The two form teams in La Liga meet on Saturday in what should be an entertaining affair at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys.

Barcelona have won their last nine league fixtures to take control of the title race, but it's also six wins on the spin in the Spanish top flight for Real Betis heading into this.

With at least four goals in each of the last five meetings, there's every reason to expect this to be an action-packed game. The way Betis are playing, they should be capable of making a game of it, but they do have a miserable recent record in Barcelona, conceding five times on four of their last six visits.

There was a surprise 1-0 victory at Camp Nou in 2021 sandwiched in amongst those matches, but Barça are a vastly improved side these days and they hammered Manuel Pellegrini's men 5-1 in the Copa del Rey back in January.

Lamine Yamal was sensational in that game and it was a fine assist from the teenager that set up Ferran Torres for the only goal as Barcelona won 1-0 away to Atlético Madrid in midweek to set up a cup final Clásico in Seville later this month.

That was their 21st match so far in 2025 and their 18th victory. Hansi Flick's side have only dropped points in the league once since the turn of the year and they are starting to look like genuine contenders to win the treble this season.

They are certainly favourites to win La Liga, with a three-point advantage on Real Madrid and a nine-point lead on Atleti who are all but out of contention now.

Borussia Dortmund visit this ground in the Champions League on Wednesday, and Flick will have half an eye on that game. However, it does feel like he is starting to get the balance right in terms of knowing how much rotation he can get away with.

The fine form of Ferran has really helped matters on that front. Robert Lewandowski's deputy has now scored 16 goals in all competitions this season. He's averaging a goal every 89 minutes in La Liga which is an identical strike-rate to the Polish international who leads the Pichichi race, and a better one than Real Madrid's Kylian Mbappé.

Lewandowski is expected to rotate back in for this game, and Flick can't afford to take too many risks here given the level Real Betis are operating at.

They have turned a slightly underwhelming season into a highly encouraging one by virtue of a brilliant run of results over the last few months.

Some inspired January business has contributed to that transformation. Antony's impact is well documented with the Manchester United loanee thriving in a different environment, while it's six starts and six victories so far for striker Cucho Hernández who made the €13m switch from MLS side Columbus Crew on deadline day.

He grabbed his second goal in the derby win over Sevilla last weekend, the first time Betis had tasted success in the league against their city rivals since club legend Joaquín netted the only goal in a 1-0 victory back in 2018.

The 2-1 triumph last Sunday was also Pellegrini's first Seville derby triumph in La Liga, and it lifted the roof off the Estadio Benito Villamarín, further boosting the growing Champions League aspirations of Betis in the process.

With the top five all likely to qualify for next season's competition, they are hunting down Villarreal and Athletic Club who meet this weekend at the Estadi de la Ceràmica.

Team News:

Both sides have European games this coming week, so we could see some light rotation, particularly from Barcelona who have had limited recovery time following their successful Copa del Rey trip to Madrid.

Flick's options are limited by injuries for Marc-André ter Stegen, Marc Casadó, Dani Olmo and Marc Bernal, while Andreas Christensen is rated doubtful once more.

Despite the volume of games, the German still seems reluctant to rest the likes of Pedri, Lamine Yamal and Jules Koundé, but we could see changes in central defence here, with Ronald Araújo and Eric García hoping to rotate in.

As for Real Betis, they have one very significant absentee, with talisman Isco sidelined due to suspension. Giovani Lo Celso, who impressed in the first half of this season, should take his place, with few other changes likely from the side that won the derby. Abde Ez and Marc Roca are both currently out injured.

Barcelona vs Real Betis Odds

Barcelona are priced at 4/11 to record a 10th win on the spin in La Liga. Betis are available at 13/2 to make it a magnificent seven wins in a row, while you can get odds of 9/2 for the Draw.

Punters can get bigger returns on the home team by backing Barcelona and Over 2.5 goals at 7/10, a winning bet in all of the Catalan side's last three league matches. Barça are also available at 15/8 to win both halves.

If you see the Andalusians continuing their fine run by getting something from this game, Draw or Real Betis is on offer at 2/1 in the Double Chance market. You can also back the visitors to score over 1.5 goals at 9/4, while they are available at 11/5 to win either half.

With Lewandowski expected to return after a midweek rest, the veteran striker looks the most likely candidate for a goal here, and he's priced at 3/1 to score first and 7/10 to score anytime. You can also back Lamine Yamal to get on the scoresheet at 7/4.

From a visiting perspective, Cucho Hernández is priced at 23/10 to score anytime, while Antony is on offer at 18/5 in the same market.

Bet 1 - Barcelona & Both teams to score @ 11/8

With Pellegrini at the helm, Betis are not really the kind of side that's likely to come here and put everyone behind the ball, not least given how well they are currently playing.

That being said, they will miss Isco who has been absolutely brilliant over the past couple of months. That will make it much harder for them to impose themselves on this game, and there are still one or two holes at the back that this free-scoring Barcelona side ought to be able to exploit.

The visitors ought to get some opportunities on the break, with Antony and Jesús Rodriguez impressing on the flanks, but their opponents are just operating on a higher level than any other team in Spain right now and I'm backing Barcelona and Both teams to score at 11/8.

Bet 2 - Barcelona to win (1st half) & Robert Lewandowski 2+ shots on target (90 mins) @ 17/10

It feels like a clear strategy of Flick for his team to start matches playing immediately at a high tempo as they look to blow opposing sides away, before they have even really settled into the match.

They were excellent in the opening 45 minutes against Atleti in the cup in midweek. They also have a formidable first half record at home in La Liga this season, scoring 23 goals in the opening 45 minutes and conceding only twice. That's significantly better than their second half record (17 scored and eight conceded).

A strong start therefore looks likely from the hosts here, and Lewandowski, who had four shots on target last Sunday at home to Girona, should be at the heart of it.

Given that, I'm using the Bet Builder to back Barcelona to win (first half) and Robert Lewandowski 2+ shots on target (90 minutes) at 17/10.
