Western Sydney Wanderers vs Perth Glory Prediction: Perth can pounce despite Stajcic sacking

After a dismal first half of the season that has them at the bottom of the Australian A-League Men's with just 12 points from 13 games, Western Sydney Wanderers pulled the plug on Alen Stajcic's reign as head coach earlier this week. Sixty-year-old Gary van Egmond has been appointed in an interim capacity until the end of the 2025/26 campaign, and his first game in charge comes this Sunday (08:00 GMT, TNT Sports 2) at CommBank Stadium, where Perth Glory provide the opposition.
Below are my Western Sydney Wanderers vs Perth Glory predictions, alongside all the latest team news and match odds.

Team News
Western Sydney Wanderers are bolstered by the returns of Aydan Hammond and Aidan Simmons from international duty, while Bozhidar Kraev is back after missing last Saturday’s 2-1 home defeat to Newcastle Jets.
The Wanderers announced the loan signing of Southampton winger Ryan Fraser earlier this week, but he may not receive international clearance in time to make his debut on Sunday.
Riley Foxe, Lachie Wales (both unspecified), Joel Anasmo (Achilles), Callum Timmins, Brandon O'Neill (both calf) and Cameron Cook (knee) are out injured for Perth Glory.
However, Jaiden Kucharski and Will Freney have both made recoveries and are in Adam Griffiths’ extended squad for the trip to Sydney, as is former Glory striker Stefan Colakovski, who earlier this week re-signed for the club after a long spell on the sidelines with a knee injury.

Western Sydney Wanderers vs Perth Glory Odds
Western Sydney Wanderers, who have lost four of their last five games, are still 9/10 favourites to claim all three points on Sunday, implying a 52.6% probability of success. Perth Glory, who have won three of their five away matches (L2), are 5/2, or a 28.6% chance, to do the double over WSW, who they beat 1-0 at HBF Park last month, despite going down to 10 men in the 40th minute.
The draw is also priced at 5/2, with both teams to score, a winning selection in four of the last five head-to-heads, at 4/7, and over 2.5 total goals at 8/13.
Western Sydney Wanderers vs Perth Glory Stats

- WSW have lost their last three home matches
- PER won last month's H2H 1-0 at HBF Park
- BTTS-Yes has landed in three of PER's last four contests
- PER have conceded 7+ corners in four of their five away trips
Draw No Bet - Perth Glory @ 13/8
The Wanderers may feel freed up after Stajcic's sacking, and it's always dangerous to go against the new manager bounce, so I'm wary of going all in on Glory this weekend.
However, three wins from five away games makes for impressive reading, and in their most recent defeat on the road, Perth were only beaten by a single goal as they lost 3-2 at Melbourne Victory.
The Wanderers went unbeaten in their first four home matches this season, picking up seven points from 12, but they've lost their last three at CommBank Stadium, failing to score in the first two.
Glory won last month's reverse fixture, scoring the only goal in the 30th minute and holding on for all three points after Trent Ostler's 40th-minute dismissal.
The visitors are a tempting 5/2 in the Match Result market, but I prefer the insurance of Draw No Bet, meaning that if the two teams play out a stalemate, your stake will be returned.

Bet Builder - Both Teams to Score - Yes & Over 6.5 Home Corners @ 5/2
Both teams to score has been a winning selection in 38% of Perth's ALM games this season, but away from home, that figure rises to 60%.
The Wanderers have also seen 38% of their matches end with both sides on the scoresheet, but taking CommBank contests only, it increases to 43%.
Both teams have scored in three of Glory's last four games, and two of WSW's last four.
Corner-wise, the Wanderers are averaging 6.29 taken per home game, which ranks them joint-fourth, while Perth are averaging 7.4 conceded per away game - only Newcastle Jets (eight) are averaging more.
The Wanderers took eight of the 13 corners awarded in last month's head-to-head at HBF Park, and in last week's defeat to the Jets, they won 12 to their opponents' eight.
The Glory gave away eight corners to Brisbane Roar last time out, and they've conceded at least seven in four of their five away matches.
