Western Sydney Wanderers vs Newcastle Jets Prediction: Jets to fly away with the points again

Western Sydney Wanderers ended their five-game wait for a win with a 1-0 success at Melbourne Victory last weekend, but their quest for back-to-back triumphs will be severely tested at CommBank Stadium on Saturday (06:00 GMT, TNT Sports 4) when they host a Newcastle Jets side who have won four of their last five.
Below are my Western Sydney Wanderers vs Newcastle Jets predictions, supported by all the latest team news and match odds.

Team News
Western Sydney Wanderers duo Aydan Hammond and Aidan Simmons are on international duty with Australia at the 2026 AFC U23 Asian Cup in Saudi Arabia, but otherwise, Alen Stajcic has a full squad available to him.
Newcastle Jets, on the other hand, have several injuries to contend with.
Alexander Badolato, Christian Bracco and Oscar Fryer are all out for the season with ACL injuries, while Thomas Aquilina (hamstring) misses out with a more minor problem.
Former Adelaide United man Zach Clough joined the Jets earlier this week on a two-and-a-half-year deal from Malaysian Super League side Selangor, but he's not ready to make his debut for the club this weekend.
Noah James, Jordan Baylis, Ben van Dorssen and Meliwethu Nkomo have all been left out of Mark Milligan's extended squad, but Max Cooper is back involved after serving a suspension in last Sunday's 1-0 victory over Melbourne City.

Western Sydney Wanderers vs Newcastle Jets Odds

Western Sydney Wanderers vs Newcastle Jets Stats
- NEW have won four of their last five games (L1)
- WSW have lost four of their last six (W1, D1)

Match Result - Newcastle Jets @ 2/1
I went two-for-two in my Melbourne City-Newcastle Jets preview last week, securing a 16/5 winner with the visitors in the Match Result market, and a 9/5 winner with Lachlan Rose in the Anytime Goalscorer market.
I'm revisiting the former for Saturday's game, albeit at lower odds of 2/1. Still, with four wins from their last five, I'm more than happy to back a side only offered a 33.3% implied probability, particularly given the Wanderers' travails this season.
Stajcic led his side to a much-needed win over Victory last weekend, but the only goal of the game was scored from the penalty spot, and that's not enough to convince me that a team that failed to win any of their five previous games, losing four of them and failing to score in the same number, have turned a corner.
The Jets were leaking goals left, right and centre in the first six weeks of the season, and they shipped five in a 5-4 defeat against Macarthur FC on Boxing Day, too, but two clean sheets in their last four games is a step in the right direction, and boasting a front three of Clayton Taylor, Eli Adams and Rose, Milligan's men can outscore any side, especially the division's worst attack, with the Wanderers netting a league-low nine goals this season.

Corner Over/Under - Over 11.5 @ 5/4
Only Macarthur (11.38) are averaging more corners (for/against) per game this season than the Jets (11), while the Wanderers (10.17) are sixth by that particular metric.
The Jets are averaging 4.83 corners taken per game and conceding 6.17 per game, while the Wanderers are averaging 5.08 taken per game and conceding the same number per game.
Two of the Wanderers' last three home games have produced exactly 12 corners, with the other falling just short (11).
Half (three) of the Jets' away matches this season have finished with 12 or more corners, including last Sunday's win at Melbourne City (12).
