Auckland FC have failed to defend their Premier's Plate title, losing out on first place in the Australian A-League Men's to Newcastle Jets, but they can guarantee a runners-up finish, and skip straight to the play-off semi-finals, with a victory at Sydney FC's Allianz Stadium this Sunday (06:00 BST, TNT Sports 4).

The Sky Blues, meanwhile, are aiming for a top-four finish that would see them land a home Elimination Final, while a big win over the Black Knights this weekend could see them overtake the New Zealanders into second. Read below for my Sydney vs Auckland predictions, alongside team news and match odds.

Sydney vs Auckland Stats

  • Four of the five H2Hs, including both this league season, have gone under 2.5 goals

  • All five meetings between the two teams have produced 10+ corners

Bet Builder - Draw or Auckland & Under 3.5 Total Goals @ 5/4

Four of the five H2Hs between Sydney and Auckland have gone under 2.5 goals, with a 2-2 draw at Allianz Stadium in April 2025 proving to be the outlier.

The Sky Blues are yet to beat the Black Knights, who have won both home games in this fixture.

Both league games between these two teams in Sydney have finished level, while an Australian Cup quarter-final at Allianz Stadium last August ended 1-1 in regulation time, with no further goals scored in extra time before the visitors triumphed 3-1 on penalties.

Today's Football Fixtures

Auckland's league matches this season are averaging 2.68 goals, while Sydney's are averaging 2.16. Sydney's last five matches have gone under 3.5 goals, while four of Auckland's last five have gone that way.

This is a game the Black Knights will be desperate not to lose, and even a draw could see them knocked out of second spot, with Adelaide United, just a point behind in third, able to overtake them with a victory at Melbourne City later on Sunday.

Sydney have plenty to play for, too, as they look to clinch a home Elimination Final, but they've been poor on home soil recently, failing to win any of their last four games there (D2, L2), while Auckland are unbeaten in their last four away matches (W2, D2).

Bet Builder - Under 1.5 First-Half Goals & Over 9.5 Corners @ 7/5

Another Bet Builder here, and in this one, we required under 1.5 first-half goals and over 9.5 corners.

There hasn't been more than one goal scored in the last nine first-halves featuring Sydney, with six, including two of their last three, seeing zero.

Two of Auckland's last three games have seen exactly one first-half goal, with the other featuring two.

Four of the last five meetings between Sydney and Auckland, including both this season, have gone under 1.5 first-half goals.

All five head-to-heads, meanwhile, have produced at least 10 corners, with 12 split evenly between the two teams at Allianz Stadium on February 17, and 10 (seven for Sydney, three for Auckland) taken at Go Media Stadium 10 days prior.
