Victory over Brisbane Roar at Suncorp Stadium this Saturday (08:00 BST, TNT Sports 2) would see Melbourne City clinch a top-six spot in this season’s Australian A-League Men’s and go a fair way to securing a home Elimination Final.

Their hosts, meanwhile, are looking for a win that would see them avoid the dreaded wooden spoon ahead of current bottom-of-the-table side Western Sydney Wanderers. Read on for my Brisbane Roar vs Melbourne City predictions, alongside team news and match odds.

Match Result - Melbourne City @ 1/1

City are on a roll, having won four of their last five games, including all three this month.

Vidmar’s side have kept three clean sheets in their last five, too, conceding just one goal across three matches in April so far, and they’re now targeting a top-four finish that would bring with it a home Elimination Final.

On Saturday, they’re expected to push past a Brisbane side that has won just one of their 15 games this calendar year, at Perth Glory (1-2) on January 16, and has very little to play for in their final two contests.

To give the Roar some credit, they’ve drawn four of their last five, so they’re no pushovers, further highlighted by the fact that four of their last five defeats, including their last three, have been by a single-goal margin.

Today's Football Fixtures

Still, they’re a pretty poor team, and no club has collected fewer points at home this season than Brisbane (13), who picked up 10 of those points in their first four games at Suncorp Stadium, failing to win any of their last eight there, drawing on three occasions and losing five times.

City aren’t strong on the road, claiming just 15 points from 12 away trips, but they collected four points from two away games last month, beating Sydney FC 1-0 and drawing 1-1 at Perth Glory, and they should have too much for the Roar on Saturday.

Anytime Goalscorer - Marcus Younis (MCI) @ 2/1

I tipped mid-season City signing Marcus Younis to return from suspension with a goal at Wellington Phoenix last week, and the 20-year-old duly delivered, netting his loan club's second and final effort in a 2-0 victory.

Younis, on loan from Danish side Brondby, has scored four goals in nine ALM appearances for City, registering three assists, too.

The Australia U23 international has found the net in back-to-back games against Western Sydney Wanderers and Wellington, either side of missing a 2-1 win against Central Coast Mariners, and he's backed to strike for a third successive appearance on Saturday against a Brisbane side that has conceded two goals in three of their last four matches.
