Atletico Madrid vs Getafe Prediction: Visitors to grind out another goalless first half

The 2024/25 Copa del Rey quarter-finals take place this week and kicking off the action on Tuesday (20:30) are Atletico Madrid and Getafe, who meet at the former's Metropolitano Stadium.
Below is my Atletico Madrid vs Getafe prediction, supported by all the latest team news and match odds.
Atletico Madrid vs Getafe Betting Tips
Team News
Antoine Griezmann and Conor Gallagher were deployed as second-half substitutes in Saturday's 2-0 victory over Real Mallorca in La Liga, with the Frenchman scoring Atletico's second goal in the third minute of added time. Both players will hope to start Tuesday's cup tie, as will Nahuel Molina, Axel Witsel, Jose Maria Gimenez and Angel Correa, none of whom started on the weekend.
Fringe members of Diego Simeone's squad such as Cesar Azpilicueta, Thomas Lemar and Rodrigo Riquelme will also anticipate opportunities in midweek, while Rodrigo De Paul returns to the fold after serving a one-game ban in the league.
Back-up goalkeeper Jan Musso has started all four of Atletico's Copa del Rey ties this season so the Argentine should get the nod over number-one shot-stopper Jan Oblak, who could be joined on the sidelines by several fellow starters on Saturday including Koke, Samuel Lino, Julian Alvarez and Alexander Sorloth.
Javi Galan, who missed out against Real Mallorca with an ankle injury, is the only player confined to Atletico's treatment room.
Los Colchoneros face Real Madrid in La Liga on Saturday evening, so that match will also factor into Simeone's thinking ahead of the club's cup tie with Getafe.
The visitors' only confirmed injury absentee on Tuesday is Allan Nyom, who is yet to feature this calendar year due to a muscle issue, while former Real Madrid man Alvaro Rodriguez is banned for his side's next two Copa del Rey matches after receiving a red card in the last-16 tie at Pontevedra, where he scored the only goal of the game in a 1-0 win.
Paraguayan defender Omar Alderete, who served a suspension on Saturday as Los Azulones ground out a point in a goalless draw with Sevilla, is back available, however.
Like Atletico, Getafe are likely to rotate their goalkeeper, bringing in Jiri Letacek for David Soria, and several others who started on the bench against Los Nervionenses could earn starts at the Metropolitano.
Former Real Madrid striker Borja Mayoral is among those who could be in from the off, likewise Carles Alena, Alex Sola and Bertug Yildirim, all of whom appeared as second-half substitutes on Saturday.
Atletico Madrid vs Getafe Odds
Atletico have already beaten Getafe at the Metropolitano this season, securing a 1-0 success in La Liga on December 15 via a 69th-minute strike from Sorloth. Simeone's side are 4/9 to triumph again on Tuesday, which would mark their third straight victory over Los Azulones. Those odds hand the hosts an implied probability of 69.2%, while the visitors are 6/1, or a 14.3% chance, to spring a surprise and knock Los Rojiblancos out of the Copa del Rey in regulation time.
Should nothing be separating the teams after 90 (plus) minutes, the game will move into extra time, a scenario that can be backed at 3/1. Getafe are 100/30 to win the tie by any means, with Atletico as short as 1/5.
Both teams to score in regulation time is priced at 5/4 and BTTS - No at 4/7.
Team with Most Booking Points - Getafe @ 4/6
Across Jose Bordalas' two spells as Getafe head coach, Los Azulones have been renowned for their aggressive style and penchant for picking up cards, so it's no surprise to see Tuesday's visitors the favourite in the 'Teams with Most Booking Points' market with Betfred.
In La Liga, no side has committed more fouls (364) or received more yellows (65) than Getafe this season, numbers that contrast wildly with Atletico (232 fouls and 49 yellows).
Getafe's last-16 tie against Pontevedra saw Bordalas' charges shown two red cards - one straight and one for two bookable offences - as they racked up 90 booking points compared to 20 for their lower-league opponents. They were also handed 20 booking points for two yellows in the round of 32 against Granada, accruing 30 more for three yellows in extra time of their 1-0 victory.
Atletico were the team with the most booking points in December's league meeting as two yellows in the final five minutes brought their card count to three compared to Getafe's one, but that's rarely been the outcome between these two as, starting from May 2018, when Atletico beat their local rivals 1-0 at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez, Getafe have earned more booking points in 12 of the 14 head-to-heads, earning seven red cards in that period (plus an extra one in a friendly last August).
Bordalas was in charge for 10 of those 14 games so it's fair to say his influence has been evident.
This can be a volatile market as in-game scenarios may change things rapidly, but I'm always confident Getafe will pick up several cards as it's just not in their nature to take things lying down. Atletico could be lured into a few traps set by their opponents but Simeone and his side are also masters of the dark arts and will be aware of such games being played by Getafe.

First Half Total Goals 2-Way - Under 0.5 @ 13/8
Getafe are yet to lose in six games this calendar year and the key to their success has been solidity at the back as their defence has been breached just twice in 2025, keeping four clean sheets. Granada and Pontevedra were both kept out in the Copa del Rey while on Saturday, Sevilla couldn't find a way past Los Azulones, making it back-to-back clean sheets in La Liga for Getafe after they beat Real Sociedad 3-0 in San Sebastian six days prior.
There have been a grand total of just two first-half goals in games involving Getafe since the turn of the year, both coming in the 1-1 draw with Barcelona on January 18. The other five matches were all goalless at half-time, while Getafe's final three games of 2024 failed to see a first-half strike, meaning the score at the interval in eight of their last nine contests - nine of their last 11 - has been 0-0, starting with Atletico's 1-0 victory over them in mid-December when just two shots on target were recorded in the opening 45 minutes.
I can see Getafe dropping deep from minute one on Tuesday, looking to hold out as for as long as possible having yet to concede in the competition this season. Of course, they are facing superior opponents in the quarter-finals, but they've already shown this season that they can restrict Atletico to few clear-cut opportunities, particularly before half-time, while their hosts won't be going gung-ho either, knowing that patience could be key.
Neither side will want to go a goal down and face a big battle to get back into the tie, so a low-key first half could be in the offing here.
For these reasons, I'm happy to back under 0.5 first-half goals at 13/8.
