Atletico Madrid welcome RB Leipzig to the Spanish capital on Thursday night (20:00, live on TNT Sports 4) as these two sides begin their respective Champions League campaigns.

Conor Gallagher and Julian Alvarez both scored at the weekend for Atleti, so they will be pushing for a starting place here.

Pablo Barrios (muscle) and Reinildo (leg) are the only two current absentees for the hosts, so Diego Simeone should have a fully fit squad at his disposal.

As for the visitors, they'll be without Xaver Schlager, who continues to recover from an ACL injury, and Assan Ouedraogo remains sidelined with a knee injury.

Both sides have made excellent starts to their domestic campaigns, and there doesn't look to be a great deal to separate them heading into Thursday's encounter.

The visitors have enjoyed some emphatic results away from home so far this term - most notably a win at current Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen.

However, Atleti's imperious home record makes it difficult to back against them.

Simone's side have two wins and a draw in three La Liga games at the Metropolitano Stadium this season and they are yet to concede in front of their own fans. Going back into last season, the Madrid outfit have won six of their last eight at this venue – a run that includes a win over eventual runners-up Borussia Dortmund in the quarter-finals of last year’s Champions League.
