Atalanta vs Parma Prediction: Chivu’s improvers to sign off with 11/4 stalemate

Atalanta head coach Gian Piero Gasperini should make changes against Parma when they meet in the final round of Serie A fixtures at the Gewiss Stadium in Bergamo on Sunday (19.45).

Gasperini is likely to reward squad players with pitch-time with his side guaranteed of finishing third in the table. Berat Djimsiti can return to Atalanta's back three after serving a suspension, but the hosts will be without Sead Kolasinac, Rafael Toloi, Juan Cuadrado and Gianluca Scamacca.

Atalanta have won their last seven matches against Parma, beaten them on home soil four times in a row and the league table tells you they are a class apart.

On any other weekend of the year this is a home banker.

But this isn't any weekend. This is a weekend when Gasperini makes one or two selection tweaks to a team for whom this match is largely a training exercise against a Parma team who would select 12 defenders if they were allowed to go in pursuit of the 0-0 draw they imagine would keep them up.

And they can get draws. Since Chivu was appointed head coach in mid-February they have lost just three of 12, beaten Juventus 1-0 and drawn with Inter, Lazio and Napoli.

That is not relegation form but the form of a team well capable of clocking up an eighth draw in 11 games.
