Atalanta vs Roma Betting Tips

  • Both Teams To Score – Yes @ 8/11
  • Atalanta or Draw, Over 1.5 Goals and Over 6.5 Corners @ 10/11 via #PickYourPunt

Thursday’s Europa League semi-finals have confirmed that both teams are in excellent form.

Atalanta, who dispatched with ease Olympique Marseille to reach their first ever European final, is certainly the most confident of the two sides.

But the Giallorossi have shown great character and almost broke Bayer Leverkusen’s invincibility.

After a blistering start under Daniele De Rossi, with six wins in seven Serie A games, Roma have slowed down recently but they remain very much alive in the race to qualify for next season’s Champions League.

The hosts have the momentum, having lost only one (0-1 against Liverpool) of their past nine games in all competitions.

Next Wednesday, they’ll face Juventus in the Coppa Italia final, but with a game in hand, at home against Fiorentina, they look favourite to finish above Roma.

Home form has been a decisive factor for Atalanta this campaign.

In fact, Giampiero Gapserini’s men have obtained 35 points in 16 matches played at the ‘Gewiss Stadium’.

Their defensive numbers have also improved this season. They’ve conceded 38 league goals, which represents their second-best tally over the past 11 campaigns.

Probably having had to recover many points in the league since January is taking its toll on De Rossi’s men, who have only won one of the last six in all competitions.

Nonetheless, Roma’s recent record in Italy’s top flight remains excellent. Since March, only Inter (20) and AC Milan (18) have collected more points than the Giallorossi (16, same as Bologna and Lazio).

Although the draw might suit the hosts better, because of their superior goal difference, the game might not be a cagey one, given the attacking options both clubs can rely on.

Team News:

Given the importance of the game, it’s unlikely both managers will make many rotations and therefore the key players will be required to put in an extra shift.

In the hosts’ camp defenders Kolasinac, Toloi and Holm are all unavailable due to injuries, Albanian international Djimsiti will play in the back-three alongside Hien and Scalvini.

Hateboer should replace Zappacosta on the right-flank, with Ruggeri, who scored against OM, confirmed on the opposite side.

Gasperini is expected to play with his best men upfront, deploying both Koopmeiners and Lookman behind Scamacca.

Mancini will return to the centre of Roma’s defence, alongside Smalling. Celik will play at right-back, while Angelino is favourite over Spinazzola for a place on the opposite flank.

Dybala’s conditions are being monitored. The Argentine might start on the bench, with Baldanzi taking up his place next to Lukaku.

Atalanta and Roma are level on points in the table but the Europa League finalists are odds-on (1/1) favourite to win the match and therefore qualify to play in the Champions League next season.

The hosts have a good record against Roma, in fact the Giallorossi are the team against whom the Orobici have scored the most goals in Serie A: 143 in 123 matches.

The Bergamaschi have won three of the last four home matches against Roma in the league, obtaining as many successes as they did in the previous 11 home matches against the team from the capital.

Similar odds for the draw (5/2) and for the away win (11/4). Roma are unbeaten away in the league with Daniele De Rossi as coach (four wins, three draws), and have recently beaten AC Milan at San Siro in the Europa League.

The goals market is much harder to chose from, as Over 2.5 and Under 2.5 pay the same (5/6).

In fact, six of Roma’s 17 Serie A away games this season have finished with over 3.5 goals.

But Atalanta have recorded eight Serie A wins to nil at home this season. Both Teams To Score (Yes pays 8/11) has been a winning bet in 11 of the visitors’ league games on the road.

Both Teams To Score – Yes @ 8/11

Atalanta has Italy’s third-best attack (63 goals) and has scored more than once in ten domestic games.

GianlucaScamacca is in the form of his career, having netted in four consecutive Serie A games for the first time ever.

Impressive numbers for the Italian international but his teammate Teun Koopmeiers has done even better so far. In fact, the Dutch midfielder has scored 12 times in Serie A, becoming the first player from the Netherlands since Ruud Gullit in 1994/1995 to reach such a high tally.

Roma has registered only three goals less than their opponents and have only failed to score just once since January.

Atalanta or Draw, Over 1.5 Goals and Over 6.5 Corners @ 10/11 via #PickYourPunt

The hosts are very strong in front of their fans. Only in 1947/1948 Atalanta had obtained more domestic points (36) at this stage of the season. Gasperini’s men have been defeated three times at the ‘Gewiss Stadium’ (by Inter, Napoli and Liverpool) and failed to score only on two occasions in all competitions.

Roma haven’t won any of the big matches they’ve played away from home, as their only two successes against Italy’s top sides (Napoli and Lazio) have come at the Stadio Olimpico.

The hosts take, on average, 5.68 corners per match and in their 35 league games there have been well over 9 corners in total. Roma’s numbers are not too far off, with 4.43 corners taken per game.
