Aston Villa vs Wolves Prediction: Hosts to win again

Aston Villa welcome Wolverhampton Wanderers to Villa Park in the Premier League on Saturday (15:00), with the home side looking to win their fourth consecutive match in all competitions. Unai Emery's side were 3-0 winners against Young Boys on their Champions League return in midweek, so they will be confident heading into this local clash.
Wolves were beaten 2-1 by Newcastle United at the weekend having been a goal up as their winless start to the campaign continued. Read on for my Aston Villa vs Wolves prediction, accompanied by match odds and team news.
Aston Villa vs Wolves Betting Tips
Aston Villa are 4/7, or a 63.6% chance, to win this match. Wolves are valued at 4/1 for the away win, giving them an implied probability of 20%. The draw is available at 16/5 (23.8%).
Both teams to score can be backed at 8/13 and over 2.5 goals is on offer at 8/15.
Team News
Villa could welcome back Leon Bailey this weekend after the winger was deemed fit enough to make the bench in Switzerland on Tuesday, but Matty Cash is still out of action through injury.
Tyrone Mings and Boubacar Kamara are working their way back to fitness after lengthy spells on the sidelines, and this looks to be a game too soon for both to return to the matchday squad.
Lamare Bogarde has been the right-back for the past three games so it looks like he will be in the team again on Saturday, although he may face competition from Kosta Nedeljkovic.
Ollie Watkins was taken off in midweek as a precaution after picking up a knock. Emery said after the game that he's okay but deputy Jhon Duran, who has been excelling from the bench, is not going to be satisfied with cameos throughout the season.
Wolves boss Gary O'Neil is without the services of Sasa Kalajdzic, Boubacar Traore and Enso Gonzalez due to injury.
Aston Villa and over 2.5 goals @ 23/20
These two clubs are in very different positions with Villa in the Champions League and having no issues in spending money to bolster their squad, while Wolves can't manage to do that despite pocketing £90m for two players over the summer.
The Old Gold's poor start to the season is not really a surprise. O'Neil did a stellar job in trying circumstances to pull them away from relegation trouble but the conditions remain the same at Molineux while teams around them have been able to strengthen.
Squad depth is going to be a huge issue for them this year and they will not be able to match what their hosts will be able to bring on from the bench on Saturday. Villa have the momentum to win this local derby on home soil, and I think there could be a few goals in store for them because Wolves do look vulnerable at the back.
The visitors have conceded 11 goals so far in the top-flight and only Everton (13) have conceded more. With the quality attacking options that Villa have, namely Watkins, Duran, Bailey and Morgan Rogers (who awaits his first goal of the season), the Villans should have too much to handle for Wolves on this occasion and I think they will win comfortably.
To boost the odds, I have added over 2.5 goals because it has been a winning selection in three of the home side's four matches in the Premier League so far. There have also been at least three goals scored in two of Wolves' four top-flight fixtures in 2024/25.

Jhon Duran anytime goalscorer @ 7/5
He may not be the starting forward for Villa, but that doesn't stop Duran from getting on the scoresheet. All three of his goals in the Premier League this season have come from the bench and all of them have been match-winners.
The one he scored against Everton last week was a sensational strike, so I think even if he does score this weekend it won't top that. The Colombian is playing with great confidence and he is a nightmare to play against.
He will be relishing the opportunity to face this Wolves defence given how fragile they are at the moment. If he is coming on when they have some tired legs out on the field, scoring in this clash should be a piece of cake for him.
I'm backing him to score anytime on Saturday at Villa Park for the second week in a row. It came off last weekend, so I'm confident in making this selection once again.
