A fifth of the Brazilian's cautions in the 2024/25 campaign came against Villa, as he was booked on the stroke of half-time of his side's 3-0 victory on Tyneside, and cautioned in the 41st minute of their defeat at Villa Park.

Those were Joelinton's third and fourth career cards against the Villans, having also been booked once in the 2021/22 and 2022/23 seasons.

Player Shown Any Card - Boubacar Kamara (AST)

Another fierce competitor in midfield, Villa's Boubacar Kamara, could follow Joelinton into the referee's notebook on Saturday.

The 25-year-old's yellow card numbers dropped in 2024/25, as he picked up just two in 26 Premier League appearances, five fewer than he accrued in 2023/24, when he only played 20 times in the competition.

Still, the Frenchman averaged 1.2 fouls per game and was whistled twice for upending an opponent in Villa's last game against Newcastle in April.

Kamara was booked in Villa's home defeat to Newcastle the previous season, and on Saturday, will be tasked with containing the talents of Bruno Guimaraes, who was fouled, on average, 2.8 times per game in 2024/25.
