Cor, this is a fixture that jumps off the page this week. On Wednesday night, the European champions of 1982 host the six-time Champions League winners as Aston Villa face Bayern Munich at Villa Park (20:00, TNT Sports 1). It’s a fixture that Villa fans have been dreaming about for years, and now it has become a reality as European master Unai Emery delivered them an improbable top-four finish last term.

Now they are facing a true giant of world football as the likes of Harry Kane come to town. Below you will find my Aston Villa vs Bayern Munich Bet Builder Tips as I look to find a big winner in this gargantuan clash.

Aston Villa vs Bayern Munich Bet Builder Tips

  • Ollie Watkins to score
  • Harry Kane to score
  • Amadou Onana to be booked

Bet Builder pays 9/1

As you can see from the bet builder that I have put together for this one, I’m steering clear of predicting the match outcome. Although Bayern Munich are the favourites, boast one of the strongest squads in Europe and would have most people’s backing heading into this one - I think this will be a very special night at Villa Park in terms of atmosphere.

This is the tie they were looking forward to the most when the draw was made, and for it to come in just their second game of the competition, and first home match, is truly special. Villa Park will provide a wonderful backdrop to what should be an excellent game, and both sets of fans are sure to play their part. However, because I also think it is a leveller between the two teams, I’m not comfortable picking any result, so instead have looked for goals and cards.

Both of these two got off to winning starts in the new Champions League format, as Bayern hammered Dinamo Zagreb 9-2, and Aston Villa cruised past Young Boys with a 3-0 success. With Emery’s tactical nous and the German sides’ strength in attack, you have to think there are going to be plenty of goals in this one, at both ends.

Backing both teams to score is sensible, but comes at a short price, so for our bet builder I have instead picked out both Kane and Ollie Watkins to score. The English duo took it in turns to lead the line at Euro 2024, but now will face off against each other in the world’s biggest club competition. Watkins has perhaps not been given the flowers he deserves this season yet, despite scoring four goals in six Premier League matches.

He was simply phenomenal last term, hitting 27 in all competitions, and I think he, and the rest of the Villa players, will be right up for the challenge. I’m backing him to find the net even up against a tough centre back duo of Kim Min-jae and Dayot Upamecano. Meanwhile, Kane barely needs any introduction does he?

He has scored 10 goals in seven club appearances in all competitions this season, including four goals in the Champions League already, as he tore Dinamo Zagreb apart. He is the designated penalty taker, and one of the best goalscorers in the world, so I think it makes sense to back him to continue his excellent form.

Along with goals, I think it makes sense to add a card to our bet builder. Aston Villa are going to have to be aggressive in this game, and so I think picking out one of their midfielders to be booked is the most logical. Amadou Onana is my selection as he is a combative central midfielder who has already picked up two yellow cards in the Premier League this season.

Up against the likes of Jamal Musiala, he is likely to have to commit a couple of fouls, and I think referee Radu Petrescu won’t be shy in bringing out the cards. That, along with our two goalscorers, takes our Aston Villa vs Bayern Munich Bet Builder to 9/1
