Manchester United look to be back on track under Erik ten Hag as they prepare to take on Aston Villa at 16:30 on Sunday afternoon.

The Dutch manager came in for a hefty dose of criticism at the start of the season but his young stars are now producing the goods. They head into this game in high spirits after a 3-0 win over West Ham at Old Trafford, while Aston Villa were dumped out of the FA Cup by Chelsea in midweek.

We’ve assessed this match and come up with a couple of betting tips for you to consider.

Aston Villa vs Man Utd Tips

  • Manchester United to win @ 2/1
  • Rasmus Hojlund to score @ 21/10

Team News

Aston Villa will be without Enzi Konsa after he sprained his knee and Unai Emery will be hoping Pau Torres is fit to start. Diego Carlos partnered Clement Lenglet in the cup defeat, while Lucas Digne could be available again having been injured on Boxing Day.

The major absentee for Man Utd heading into this one is Lisandro Martinez. He picked up a serious injury in the win over West Ham which will rule him out for eight weeks. Harry Maguire could be in line for another start, while Raphael Varane and Victor Lindelof both came off the bench last time out and will be fit to play. Aaron Wan-Bissaka is also back fit as Ten Hag has more options available to him.

Match Odds

Aston Villa are the slight favourites heading into this one, priced at 6/5 for the win. Man Utd are 2/1 to take all three points and a draw can be backed at 11/4, while BTTS is 4/9 and over 2.5 goals is 8/15.

Manchester United to win @ 2/1

One of these teams is bang in form. It truly feels like Man Utd have turned a corner over the last week, and their attacking talent is clicking into gear. Injuries have severely hampered Ten Hag’s side this season but now - Martinez aside - they are getting back to full fitness.

The win over West Ham was impressive, with Alejandro Garnacho, Rasmus Hojlund and Marcus Rashford all linking up well. That front three, with Bruno Fernandes in behind, are so dangerous and against an Aston Villa side without Konsa, they should be able to have a field day at Villa Park. The 2/1 on them to win this match feels like excellent value given what we have seen recently.

Rasmus Hojlund to score @ 21/10

This again feels like a big price for what is on offer. Man United have shown themselves to be a top attacking outfit of late, and in particular Rasmus Hojlund has found his feet. The Danish striker has scored in each of his last three Premier League matches, as well as notching in the FA Cup win at Newport County.

He may only be 21, but he has now got to grips with English football and looks a threat in every single game he plays. If we believe Man Utd are going to win, it feels as though their number nine is more than likely to score.

You can combine both of these picks - Man Utd to win and Hojlund to score, for a price of 4/1
