A 4-1 thrashing at the hands of title-chasing Manchester City has put a heavy dent on Aston Villa’s top-four ambitions, but they will be confident in getting back on track with victory over a Brentford side that could still drop into the relegation fight.

The Bees have had a torrid time of things on the road this season, picking up just 10 points away from the Gtech Community Stadium, and will likely find life too difficult at Villa Park - a ground where they have never won. Read on for our Aston Villa vs Brentford prediction ahead of this 15:00 kick-off on Saturday.

Aston Villa vs Brentford Betting Tips

  • Aston Villa to win and Both Teams to Score @ 9/5
  • Moussa Diaby to score anytime @ 23/10

Team News

Aston Villa manager Unai Emery has a number of injury issues to contend with, as the likes of Emiliano Buendia, Boubacar Kamara, Tyrone Mings, Jacob Ramsey and Matty Cash all out.

There will be late fitness tests to ascertain the availability of Ollie Watkins and Emiliano Martinez after the duo missed the midweek defeat through injury and illness respectively, but midfielder John McGinn should return to the starting line-up having completed his three-match suspension.

Brentford boss Thomas Frank also possesses a treatment room overflowing with injuries, with no less than seven first-team players expected to be on the sidelines for the weekend.

Ben Mee, Kevin Schade, Aaron Hickey, Josh Dasilva, Ethan Pinnock, Christian Norgaard and Rico Henry will all watch on from the sidelines on Saturday, but there could be a return to the starting lineup for striker Bryan Mbeumo, who has had a handful of substitute appearances since recovering from a knee issue.

Match Odds

The Villans are favourites to claim all three points at 4/6, giving them an implied win probability of 60% whereas the Bees are 4/1 - or a 20% chance - to shock the home side and snatch the victory.

A draw provides odds of 3/1, while Villa striker Watkins has the shortest odds to open the scoring on the day at 9/2.

Aston Villa to win and Both Teams to Score @ 9/5

Villa have one of the best home records in the division - only the current top three have accrued more points at home than their 34 - and will be expected to provide too tough of an opponent for the Bees on Saturday.

Brentford have lost nine of their last 10 on the road and this poor run looks set to continue.

However, they have found the back of the net in six of these defeats and so a consolation strike could be more than achievable for the Bees.

Moussa Diaby to score anytime @ 23/10

The likes of Watkins - who may not feature at the weekend - and Brentford’s Ivan Toney do not offer much value in the goalscorer market and so looking elsewhere could be a more lucrative decision.

With two goals and an assist across his last two home games in all competitions, Moussa Diaby could be an outside option to find the net this weekend.

The Frenchman has five goals to his name in his debut campaign in English football and could lead the line if star striker Watkins is unable to shake off his hamstring problem.
