Man City to win

The reigning champions had been faultless so far this season until that shock defeat at Wolves last weekend, but they bounced back from that with a midweek win over RB Leipzig. The one concern they have going into this one is how they will fair without Rodri, still serving his suspension having been sent off against Nottingham Forest.

He was hugely missed against Wolves, however, Mikel Arteta’s absent players may be even more impactful. Bukayo Saka was taken off in the defeat to Lens in midweek, joining Gabriel Martinelli on the sidelines. Without those two, Arsenal looked meek in the 2-1 defeat, and so far, Arteta hasn’t been able to get the better of Guardiola.

If we ignore the Community Shield, Man City have won their last eight competitive fixtures against Arsenal. When it comes to the big games, they just know how to get the job done. I expect more of the same here.

BTTS Yes

Even potentially without Saka, Arsenal are one of the most dangerous attacking sides in the league. Without Rodri, City will be tested defensively, and I think this game will feature goals at both ends. The Gunners struggled at the back against Spurs, and with Erling Haaland and co to deal with, they are likely to concede again. One thing is for sure though, it should be fun!

Erling Haaland to score

The big man for the big occasions. After last season’s record-breaking goal tally, things have calmed down regarding Haaland. However, he still leads the scoring charts with eight and is looking sharp in front of goal. In these big matches, the title deciders, he has been brought in to make the difference, and at the Emirates we may see that once again. Backing Haaland to score in a Man City win feels like the way to go here.

Mateo Kovacic to be booked

To add some spice to the Bet Builder, we’ve selected a card to be handed out to Mateo Kovacic. The midfielder is likely to play as Rodri’s replacement, as he did at Wolves, and with Arsenal’s rapid counter-attacking style, he is going to have to get stuck in and make challenges. He was booked at Wolves and could have another scrap on his hands in the middle. This could actually be a game that sees several cards, but Kovacic remains the most appealing.
