Arsenal Premier League Odds: Gunners to miss out on the title again?

Arsenal finally have a recognised number nine - it only took them about three years! Viktor Gyokeres is a Gunner and his job this season will be to try and fire them to the Premier League title. Mikel Arteta has had his team pushing in recent years but that lack of a regular source of goals up front has hindered them.
Now they have filled that void, an interesting season could lie in store. Below I deliver my Arsenal prediction for the upcoming campaign, using Betfred's Arsenal Premier League Odds.
Arsenal Premier League Odds
Prediction: 2nd
Arteta has come under a lot of scrutiny from Arsenal fans and neutral supporters alike due to his lack of silverware in the almost six years he has spent in charge of the Gunners. But you cannot deny the progress the team has made under his stewardship.
He has dragged them back into the Champions League and now they are heading into each season in the title conversation. They have missed two big opportunities to end their drought in recent years, and it has been down to a mixture of a lack of a striker and injuries, which hampered them dearly last term.
Arsenal have a very solid foundation in their side, so only added extras are needed to get them into their strongest position for a title race. I've often said that their bench, as well as a lack of a front man, has held them back.
Comparing it to the benches on offer at Manchester City and Liverpool, Arsenal's depth is significantly weaker, particularly in the final third. Gabriel Martinelli looked like he made huge progress a few years ago but has regressed since, while Leandro Trossard has his own consistency issues.
Arsenal are in need of upgrading their left wing as much as they required a forward. They are tracking Eberechi Eze of Crystal Palace for this role, but nothing has materialised yet. It is certainly something to keep an eye on in the final weeks of the transfer window.

Transfer Business:
In: Martin Zubimendi (£60m, Real Sociedad), Viktor Gyokeres (£55m, Sporting CP), Noni Madueke (£48.5m, Chelsea), Cristhian Mosquera (£13m, Valencia), Christian Norgaard (£10m, Brentford) and Kepa Arrizabalaga (£5m, Chelsea).
Out: Nuno Tavares (£4.3m, Lazio), Marquinhos (£2.6m, Cruzeiro), Thomas Partey (free, Villarreal), Kieran Tierney (free, Celtic), Jorginho (free, Flamengo) and Takehiro Tomiyasu (released).
Although they are in need of improvement on the left flank, Arsenal have bolstered their right side with the addition of Noni Madueke from Chelsea. The winger was linked with a move to the Emirates from PSV Eindhoven at the time he moved to the Blues, and he will provide competition and much-needed cover for Bukayo Saka.
Martin Zubimendi has all the makings of a great midfielder and the Gunners have been tracking him for some time. Arsenal are now stacked in this area of the pitch and is where I'd say their squad depth is among the best in the division.
Christian Norgaard is a shrewd bit of business to play defensive midfield because of a certain departure this summer, and given his track record in the Premier League he has a lot to offer Arteta's side.
Cristhian Mosquera is a promising centre-back for the future and he can learn a lot from Gabriel Magalhaes and William Saliba - the best partnership in the league.
Kepa has had a brilliant season at AFC Bournemouth so that is excellent cover between the sticks if David Raya gets injured.
Gyokeres is of course the pick of the bunch, having scored 97 goals in 102 matches for Sporting CP across all competitions. He will be a great asset to the team this season, while Kai Havertz is a decent alternative, but the German could also return to another attacking position.
Key Player: Viktor Gyokeres
You could see this coming a mile off, couldn't you? Normally I'd go for a Saka, Martin Odegaard or even a Gabriel but the addition of Gyokeres is changing a lot of people's perceptions about Arsenal's title hopes.
The Sweden international was brilliant at Coventry City in the Championship once he got settled and he has reached new levels playing in Portugal. Those wondering if he can hack it in the Premier League, he bagged a Uefa Champions League hat-trick against Manchester City last season - I think he'll be alright. His goal record speaks for itself.
He's a clinical finisher who can also create goals for himself and others. Arsenal have been crying out for a figure like him to lead the line and his contributions may prove the difference in the Gunners' title charge in 2025/26.

Prediction: 2nd
I am very optimistic about Arsenal's chances this season but defending champions Liverpool will have a big say in the title race. The Reds have strengthened brilliantly this summer by spending an absolute fortune on the likes of Florian Wirtz (Premier League record £116m), Hugo Ekitike (£79m) and Milos Kerkez (£40m).
Liverpool already had a lot of quality in depth and they have further added to it, giving Arne Slot's side a huge advantage heading into the new term. We at Betfred Insights collaborated to put together this year's 1-20 and we agreed that Liverpool currently look the best bet to win the league.
But in terms of their closest challengers, Arsenal look far and away the strongest and will pose the Reds the biggest threat in 2025/26. The added consistency of having Arteta in the dugout for several years means his squad are well-drilled and familiar with their roles, and with the added quality to bolster their ranks, it shows the club are learning from previous mistakes.
