An intriguing battle takes place in the Premier League at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday night (KO, 20:00), as Mikel Arteta's Arsenal plot revenge over Eddie Howe and Newcastle United.

The Magpies won the reverse fixture 1-0 back in November courtesy of a contentious Anthony Gordon goal, which has barely left the lips of Gooners since.

The north Londoners have another reason to be hurt heading into this contest, following Wednesday night's last-gasp defeat to Porto in the first-leg of their Champions League Round of 16 tie.

Newcastle, meanwhile, should be in a more positive frame of mind, despite drawing 2-2 at home to AFC Bournemouth last weekend. Matt Ritchie's injury-time equaliser ensured Howe's side are unbeaten in their last five games against Premier League opposition, and it's three players from his team that form this 17/2 Bet Builder made from Betfred's #PickYourPunt feature.

Arsenal vs Newcastle Bet Builder Tips:

  • Fabian Schar 1+ shots
  • Bruno Guimaraes 2+ fouls
  • Anthony Gordon to be carded

Betfred's #PickYourPunt feature pays out at 17/2

Fabian Schar 1+ shots

The Switzerland international may be a defender, but it's his goals in recent weeks that have proven invaluable in Newcastle beating both Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa.

Schar struck twice at Villa Park at the end of last month in a 3-1 win before grabbing his side's second in a 3-2 victory at the City Ground on February 10. Those are only his domestic strikes of the campaign, but he averages 1.2 shots per game in the Premier League and has had at least two in each of his last four leagues games, and one against Manchester City in the game prior to that run.

The 32-year-old had one shot in the reverse fixture on Tyneside and, remarkably, registered nine shots against the Gunners in his previous four games against them.

Bruno Guimaraes 2+ fouls

It won't be a shock to know that Guimaraes has conceded 32 fouls in the Premier League this season at a rate of 1.3 per game. Such tenacity has led to him receiving nine yellow cards.

It's the bigger games that have generally brought that extra bit of feistiness out of him. The Brazil international was booked in both of Newcastle's league meetings with Manchester City, as well as at Anfield against Liverpool and in the reverse fixture with Arsenal at St. James' Park. He also received a yellow in cup ties at Sunderland and Chelsea.

Guimaraes has to be careful now, though, given his next yellow card - if received before Newcastle's 33rd Premier League match - will incur a two-game suspension.

That's why backing him to concede two fouls might be the smarter play. He gave away two free-kicks against the Gunners in November and has conceded 2+ fouls at notoriously difficult grounds like Anfield, Stamford Bridge, the Etihad Stadium, and the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Anthony Gordon to be carded

Gordon is another player who has been in the book a lot during the 2023-24 campaign, picking up eight yellow cards in the Premier League.

Like Guimaraes, the 22-year-old appears to be less disciplined against the bigger sides in the division. Gordon has been booked against Arsenal, Manchester City and Aston Villa (X2) this season, as well as at the Stadium of Light in the FA Cup last month.

With the winger set to lead the line in the absence of Callum Wilson and Alexander Isak again, there could be a lot of running around for the Everton academy graduate to do, and his frustration could boil over again.
