Arsenal vs Man City Betting Tips

  • Martin Odegaard and Julian Alvarez to have a shot on target each – 7/4
  • Over 3.5 goals – 2/1

Team news

Mikel Arteta will need to make a big decision ahead of the weekend after Bukayo Saka picked up another knock in the midweek defeat to Lens in the Champions League. Many are calling on the Arsenal boss to give their key man a rest to prevent him from sustaining a serious injury that could see him miss most of the season. Gabriel Martinelli and Thomas Partey are touch-and-go for the weekend, while Jurrien Timber remains sidelined for many months.

As for Manchester City, Rodri continues to serve his three-match suspension, while Kevin De Bruyne and John Stones remain out of action through injury.

Martin Odegaard and Julian Alvarez to have a shot on target each @ 7/4

This player shot on target special is very enticing for the weekend given the attacking quality both Martin Odegaard and Julian Alvarez have for their respective sides. Odegaard, as Arsenal’s captain, carries a lot of responsibility for how his team fares on the pitch, and he is always looking to contribute goals and assists in their quest for the title.

He scored an impressive 15 goals last year and has three to his name already this term. A common trait of his is that he ensures he can attack space just outside the box if the ball is out wide so that he can charge in a strike the ball from outside the box. We will likely see him try and get a few of these opportunities against the Cityzens.

As for Alvarez, he is enjoying a more consistent role in the team in the absence of De Bruyne and he’s thriving as a result. He has six goals in all competitions this term, including two in his last two appearances. The Argentine is carrying just as much of a goal threat as the prolific Erling Haaland right now, and he is going to be heavily involved in City’s attacks at the Emirates Stadium.

Over 3.5 goals @ 2/1

If last season is anything to go by we can expect a flurry of goals in this fixture. There was great excitement for the pair’s first meeting last year when Arsenal emerged as surprising title challengers, but that quickly faded when City comfortably beat them 3-1 at the Emirates. In the reverse fixture at the Etihad Stadium, Pep Guardiola’s side ran riot again, winning 4-1.

Arteta and his players will want to show his former tutor that the Gunners have come a long way since those defeats. After all, they prevailed over City in the Community Shield before the season began, but of course there is much more riding on this match.

With or without Saka this weekend, Arteta has a lot of quality he can call upon in attack to hurt Man City, and of course City boast the most talented goalscorer in the world right now in Haaland. We’re expecting another goal-fest in this fixture and hopefully, Arsenal can play a bigger role in it than they did last season.
