Arsenal saw an eight-game winning streak ended at the weekend but they should still see a point at title rivals Manchester City as a positive result. They face a Luton side who sit inside the relegation places, but only by virtue of an inferior goal difference, at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday evening (19:30).

The Gunners will reclaim top spot with a victory for at least 24 hours as current leaders Liverpool play on Thursday but they may not have it all their own way against Luton, who opened up an early lead at Tottenham in their last fixture but conceded twice in the second half in a 2-1 defeat. We have taken a look at all the latest team news and match odds, and offered our Arsenal vs Luton prediction.

  • Kai Havertz to score anytime @ EVS

Team News

Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Magalhaes were rated as doubts for Arsenal prior to the draw with City but all three featured at the Etihad Stadium. Boss Mikel Arteta will probably rotate for Wednesday’s game due to the quick turnaround, however, and the trio could be among those who drop out.

Long-term injury victim Jurrien Timber is the only definite absentee for the hosts, but Luton have major selection issues.

Arsenal loanee Albert Sambi Lokonga is ineligible to face his parent club and Reece Burke, Alfie Doughty and Tahith Chong all sustained knocks against Spurs, with the trio potentially joining Tom Lockyer, Amari'i Bell, Marvelous Nakamba, Elijah Adebayo, Dan Potts, Mads Andersen, Chiedozie Ogbene, Jacob Brown and Gabriel Osho on the sidelines.

Match Odds

Arsenal are massive favourites to win at 1/10 - or a 90.9% chance - while they are 4/5 to triumph with a -2 handicap.

A victory for Luton is 22/1 and a draw is 9/1. The double chance market may be the best option for anyone who fancies an upset here and a draw or Luton win is 11/2.

The Gunners won the reverse fixture 4-3, fighting back from 3-2 down to win, and another high-scoring game is fancied on Wednesday as over 3.5 goals pays out at 4/6.

Arsenal to win & BTTS @ 6/4

Arsenal had to dig deep at Kenilworth Road in the first meeting between these two sides and they may have an easier time of it with home advantage on Wednesday, but that doesn’t mean a Luton goal is out of the question.

The Hatters are winless in 10 games across all competitions but they have scored in 14 consecutive fixtures - including in defeats to Liverpool, Spurs, Aston Villa, Manchester United and Man City (in the FA Cup).

Arsenal have been close to perfect at home with 11 wins in 14 games in the league, losing just once.

Mikel Arteta’s men haven’t dropped points at home against any team currently below 12th place in the table so they should be expected to win, but they have conceded in their last three home league games and they shipped three against Luton in the reverse fixture so a home win with goals at both ends has real appeal.

Kai Havertz to score anytime @ EVS

Kai Havertz has hit some form for Arsenal as he scored in four successive Premier League games prior to the international break, before adding to his Germany haul in their eye-catching win over France.

Havertz was starved of chances against Man City but should see a few come his way against Luton. The former Chelsea man scored Arsenal’s third in the reverse fixture, and he can get back among the goals in this midweek assignment.
