Arsenal vs Liverpool Bet Builder Tips: Jota to ruffle more feathers in 5/1 #PickYourPunt

Arsenal and Liverpool only met a matter of weeks ago but the old rivals will lock horns again on Sunday afternoon (KO, 16:30), this time at the Emirates Stadium, and this time in the FA Cup third round.

The sides were unable to be separated last month as they played out a pulsating 1-1 draw at Anfield, with Mohamed Salah responding with a brilliant strike after Gabriel put Arsenal in the lead inside four minutes.

The visitors will have to make do without their Egyptian star this weekend, though, with the 31-year-old on international duty at the Africa Cup of Nations, and that should offer some encouragement to the Gunners after a shocking run of form which has left them five points behind the Reds in the Premier League title race.

Using Betfred’s #PickYourPunt builder, we’ve picked out a 5/1 treble for this weekend's pick of the cup ties.

Arsenal vs Liverpool Bet Builder Tips:

  • Diogo Jota to score anytime
  • Liverpool over 19.5 booking points
  • Woodwork to be hit

Diogo Jota to score anytime

The Portugal international made a goalscoring return to the Liverpool side against Burnley on Boxing Day, following a seven-game injury lay-off. Jota's return after Christmas is a gift and a curse for Arsenal; on the one hand, he just missed the 1-1 draw between the sides in the league on December 23, but he is now back fit and ready to inflict more misery on the Gunners.

It remains to be seen how Klopp organises his attack in the absence of Salah on Sunday, but after two substitute appearances, Jota is surely in with a fair shout of starting at the Emirates.

The inclination to throw him in from the start is made that much stronger by a cursory glance at his record for Liverpool against Arsenal - seven goals in 10 appearances shows just how dangerous he can be against Mikel Arteta's side, and he will fancy his chances of boosting his tally against them this weekend.

Liverpool over 19.5 booking points

Both games between these sides in 2023 were feisty affairs, with eight yellow cards (four apiece) in April's 2-2 draw and seven (two for Liverpool, five for Arsenal) in last month's meeting.

Those matches were both at Anfield, though, and the Gunners will hope to exert some more control on their own patch. Last season's league meeting at the Emirates saw a couple of bookings for the Merseyside outfit, and Klopp's side have picked up at least two yellow cards (20+ booking points) in four of their last five fixtures against Arsenal.

Liverpool have picked up 20+ booking points in six of their last eight games in all competitions, and while they will be without Wataru Endo - who has been cautioned four times in that period - on Sunday, his replacement is likely to be Alexis Mac Allister, who is no stranger to a card himself having been booked five times in the Premier League this term, and handed one red card.

Woodwork to be hit

Sunday is a meeting between two of the most unlucky - or profligate, depending on your viewpoint - sides in the Premier League.

Liverpool top the table for the amount of times the woodwork has been hit, with 14 of their efforts in the league striking the woodwork.

Arsenal, meanwhile, are fourth on eight, with only Everton (12) and Tottenham Hotspur (11) sandwiched between them. Perhaps there's something in the air in Merseyside and North London.
