Arsenal vs Chelsea

Arsenal go head-to-head with their London rivals Chelsea in the Premier League on Tuesday evening (20:00), with an exciting game expected at the Emirates Stadium. The Gunners recorded a hard-fought victory against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday night, while Chelsea narrowly crashed out of the FA Cup semi-finals to Manchester City.

The title race is out of the Gunners' hands for now as Man City have a game in hand, but they just need to keep on winning games and praying that Pep Guardiola's side slip-up somewhere. But Chelsea shall be no easy fixture and they will need to be careful. Below I have outlined my Arsenal vs Chelsea predictions, featuring match odds and team news.

Arsenal vs Chelsea Betting Tips

  • Arsenal and both teams to score - Yes @ 13/8
  • #PickYourPunt - Kai Havertz & Cole Palmer to score anytime @ 11/2

Match Odds

Arsenal are the 1/2 favourites to win this match, giving them a 66.7% chance of victory. Chelsea are priced at 5/1 to claim a big three points of their own, with an implied probability of 16.7%. The draw can be backed at 7/2 (22.2%).

Both teams to score is on offer at 4/7, which has landed in three of the last four meetings between these two clubs across all competitions. Over 2.5 goals is marketed at 4/9.

Leandro Trossard got Arsenal up and running at Molineux, netting his ninth Premier League goal of the season and 14th for the campaign in all competitions. Very impressive when he has only started 20 of the 41 matches he's participated in this term. He is valued at 8/5 to score anytime on Tuesday.

Bukayo Saka is the Gunners' top scorer this season and has netted 14 times in the league, and he is 13/10 to score anytime here.

Team News

Arsenal defender Jurrien Timber, who has been out since the opening day of the season, has been progressing well in his injury recovery, and he could be in line to feature for the Gunners in the final weeks of the season. Japan international Takehiro Tomiyasu is a doubt to feature having missed the trip to the West Midlands at the weekend.

After scoring on Saturday and being described as a "little magician" by Mikel Arteta, Trossard is likely to maintain his place in attack but it remains to be seen if Kai Havertz will return to the front, having dropped to midfield in recent games.

Chelsea are without Wesley Fofana, Romeo Lavia, Reece James, Lesley Ugochukwu, Levi Colwill and Christopher Nkunku due to injury.

It's crunch time for the Gunners with just five games left to play in the Premier League. As mentioned above, they have to go about taking maximum points now in the final weeks and hoping Man City can falter somewhere, as their loss to Aston Villa over a week ago put a serious dent in their title hopes.

There is still time for a few twists and turns, but the Gunners will be hoping that they can be in their favour and not against them. With a home game against a Chelsea side that have mostly struggled this season, they have to be coming away with three points, and I fancy them to do so.

Their showing at Wolves was by no means spectacular but they did what was required to bounce back from a very tough week and that win will have restored some much-needed confidence.

Arsenal had to salvage a point at Stamford Bridge when the two teams last met but they have grown as a team since then, as have Chelsea, but I think man-for-man, Arsenal have the stronger side.

They have a lot of quality in attack to hurt Chelsea's vulnerable back line, but the Blues have attacking quality of their own, namely Cole Palmer, who is the division's joint-leading goalscorer with 20. I fancy Arsenal to grab a valuable win here but I do think that there will be goals at both ends.

Arsenal and both teams to score at 13/8 #PickYourPunt - Kai Havertz & Cole Palmer to score anytime @ 11/2

One of the biggest surprises this season has been Arsenal's Kai Havertz showing form. When he has been entrusted the centre-forward role this term he has done a good job, and the German international has nine goals in the Premier League.

Tuesday sees him get another crack at his old club Chelsea, whom he won the Champions League for three years ago. How often do we see the narrative in football where the former player comes back to haunt their old side? Too many to count. I'm expecting Havertz to join that list in what is a huge game for the Gunners' title hopes.

I am also fancying the Blues' star man Palmer to get on the scoresheet because he has been a machine in front of goal this year. Chelsea may have had a disappointing year but they can boast that they made the signing of the season. Palmer's 20-goal haul is absolutely astonishing for a player who is only just getting his first real crack at senior football on a consistent basis - it is a testament to Man City's academy.

I'm expecting Palmer to potentially throw a spanner in the works for Arteta's men, who have been doing well at keeping clean sheets of late, and if Palmer was to grab the first goal, it could be a nervy game for the hosts.
