Arsenal vs Bayern Munich Bet Builder Tips: Havertz up for the fight in Gunners win

Champions League quarter-finals are back at the Emirates Stadium for the first time since 2010, when a youthful Theo Walcott and Cesc Fabregas cancelled out a two-goal lead from Barcelona's Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Unsurprisingly, a lot has changed in the intervening years, but there is some familiarity in Tuesday's opponents, Bayern Munich, who were the last club to knock them out of the competition back in 2017.

The German giants are nowhere near as formidable nowadays, however, and a repeat of that 10-2 aggregate victory in the last 16 can be instantly forgotten. The game will be shown live on TNT Sports 1 (KO, 20:00), and you can read on for our Arsenal vs Bayern Munich bet builder tips as the Gunners look to take a lead to Bavaria next Wednesday.

Arsenal to win

This selection is a pretty straightforward one. Arsenal are one of the most in-form sides in Europe, winning 11 of their last 13 games in all competitions, with Mikel Arteta transforming the Gunners into defensive demons.

Arsenal have kept four clean sheets in their last five games, including one at the Emirates against Porto in the second leg of their Champions League round of 16 tie last month.

Bayern, meanwhile, are in disarray under Thomas Tuchel, who will be leaving at the end of a season that has already seen them dumped out of the DBF Pokal by third-tier Saarbrucken and left trailing in the wake of champions-elect Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga.

They've lost their last two in the league and have disappointed in several big games, including the 2-0 Der Klassiker defeat to Borussia Dortmund on March 30 and the 3-0 loss at Leverkusen on February 10. There was also a 1-0 reversal at Lazio on Valentine's Day before they turned the tie around to win 4-1 on aggregate three weeks later.

Whether they can do the business in Bavaria next week remains to be seen, but I do see a repeat of Rome in that they are likely to fall to defeat again in the first leg of a Champions League knock-out tie.

Martin Odegaard 2+ shots

It may have been a slightly sluggish start to the 2023/24 campaign for Martin Odegaard - at least by the lofty standards he set the previous season - but the Arsenal captain has really come to the fore in recent months.

It was Odegaard's assist that set up Leandro Trossard to equalise the tie against Porto in the second leg of their Champions League round of 16 tie at the Emirates, and he already has two goals to his name in the competition this term - both of which came at the Gunners' own ground.

The Norwegian averages 1.9 shots per game in this season's Champions League, and he has had at least two shots in all three of his home matches.

Arsenal will be expected to take the game to Bayern on Tuesday, so we should expect plenty of shots from the home side. Odegaard is known for trying his luck from distance, so I'm taking him to fire off at least two efforts in midweek.

Kai Havertz 2+ fouls

After being heavily linked to Bayern last summer, Kai Havertz opted to make the shorter switch from Chelsea to Arsenal, and it's a move that has certainly paid dividends so far.

The Germany international has received his fair share of criticism this season, with Arteta's deployment of him in midfield leading many to question the decision to sign him.

However, he's looked far more at home when operating at the tip of the Arsenal attack, where he has regularly played in recent months.

As well as being a goalscoring threat, Havertz hasn't been shy in putting himself about; that's evident in the 11 yellow cards he has picked up since the start of the season - eight in the Premier League, two in the Champions League and one in the Community Shield - and his foul numbers are also very high.

Havertz has committed 22 fouls in the Champions League this season - four more than any other player. That works out as 2.8 fouls per game in the competition, and he will be expected to show his aggression again on Tuesday.

Betfred are running their famed Double Delight & Hat-trick Heaven offer on this match, meaning that if a player scores first and then nets again, you will be paid at double the odds. If he grabs a hat-trick, you will be paid at treble the odds!
