Almeria vs Cadiz Prediction: Hosts to end on a high

The curtain finally falls on a dismal season for both Almeria and Cadiz this Saturday (KO, 17:30) as the relegated clubs meet at Power Horse Stadium. The visitors' survival hopes were ended in a goalless draw with Las Palmas last Sunday and they will definitely finish in 18th, while the hosts must win and hope Granada lose to stand a chance of avoiding the dreaded wooden spoon.

Former Manchester United starlet Largie Ramazani is free to return for Almeria after serving a five-game suspension, but midfielders Iddrisu Baba and Dion Poly remain sidelined through injury.

Cadiz were missing several injured players last weekend including Luis Hernandez, Rominigue Kouame and Jorge Mere, and the trio look set to miss out again on Saturday.

Despite taking at least 10 points fewer at home than any other side in La Liga, Almeria are favourites at 21/20 on Saturday, giving them an implied win probability of 48.8%, while Cadiz are 21/10, or a 32.3% chance, to win on the road.

The sides drew 1-1 in August's reverse fixture in Cadiz; it's 12/5 for another draw, 4/6 for both teams to score again, and 6/1 for the same scoreline.

To score in both halves - Almeria @ 2/1

Almeria are bottom of La Liga and at least 15 points behind every club except Granada yet, remarkably, they have scored in both halves of a game on six separate occasions this term - more than five other sides.

Pepe Mel's charges have struck in each half in two of their last three games, including last Sunday's 2-2 draw at Real Mallorca, and have done so twice at Power Horse Stadium this calendar year.

Cadiz have kept three consecutive clean sheets, but now that their survival hopes are over, I expect them to be easier to breach. Six clubs have scored in both halves against them in 2024, and with Almeria looking to end on a high after a disastrous season, they could be under pressure throughout the 90 minutes.

Sergio Arribas anytime goalscorer @ 21/10

The 2023/24 campaign hasn't been a memorable one for Almeria, but it has been for 22-year-old midfielder Sergio Arribas, who has been a shining light since moving from Real Madrid last summer.

His breakout La Liga campaign has produced seven goals and four assists in 33 appearances, with his most recent strike arriving in last weekend's draw with Mallorca.

Arribas is surely attracting suitors looking to pounce on Almeria's relegation, and he might be looking to impress interested clubs on Saturday.

The Spaniard is Almeria's top scorer in the league, and only Leo Baptistao (six) has at least half his total.

My first selection is for Almeria to score in each half, so it makes sense to look to the anytime goalscorer market for Almeria, and it is Arribas who provides the value.
