Real Valladolid appear to be in a spot of trouble this term as they currently sit 19th in La Liga, with just one win to their name. Their next test comes on Friday night (20:00) as they travel to Vitoria-Gasteiz, to face Alaves. Both of these sides have lost their last three games on the bounce, so it will be interesting to see who comes out on top in this one.

Below you will find my Alaves vs Real Valladolid prediction, featuring betting tips and team news.

Alaves vs Real Valladolid Betting Tips

  • Alaves -1 @ 9/4
  • Toni Martinez to score 2 or more @ 11/1

Team News

Alaves’ experienced number 10 Stoichkov looks set to start again after the international break behind Toni Martinez, as Tomas Conechny attempts to break back into the starting XI. Luis Garcia will hope his players have rested over the break, after three defeats on the bounce, but he needs to nail down his preferred centre-back pairing.

Abdel Abqar and Aleksandar Sedlar were used against Getafe, while Santiago Mourino came into the back line for the defeat to Barcelona. Antonio Blanco and Ander Guevara are likely to be given another go in the centre of midfield.

Meanwhile, Paulo Pezzolano needs to come up with some solutions to arrest Valladolid’s slide down the table. Ivan Sanchez, Marcos Andre and Raul Moro may all be reinstated into the starting XI having been benched for the last league game, with young centre-back David Torres likely to start once more.

Alaves vs Real Valladolid Odds

Alaves are priced at 7/10 while Real Valladolid are available at 100/30. A draw can be backed at 5/2, over 2.5 goals is 6/5 and BTTS is 1/1. Martinez is favourite to open the scoring at 9/2.

Alaves -1 @ 9/4

Let’s not beat around the bush - Real Valladolid absolutely stink right now. Their last win came on August 19, and since then they’ve amassed just two points from eight league games. They’ve drawn one of their last five, a 0-0 draw with Real Sociedad, and lost the rest. The opposition have hardly been top tier either as Pucela have lost their last two games at home to Mallorca and Rayo Vallecano.

Things are looking bleak for Valladolid right now, and I think their misery will continue at the hands of Alaves. El Glorioso haven’t had a great time of it lately but their defeats have come against Real Madrid, Getafe and Barcelona in recent weeks. I’m more than happy to back the home side to hammer Valladolid on Friday night.

Toni Martinez to score 2 or more @ 11/1

Remember when Martinez signed for West Ham back in 2016? That was weird wasn’t it. After zero Premier League appearances for the Hammers, he headed for Famalicao in Portugal, before joining Porto. Four years later, he finds himself back in his homeland with Alaves, and he’s been entrusted with leading the line this season.

Given his experience and the fact he has notched twice already this season, I think the forward could have a field day against Valladolid. The away side have conceded 19 goals this term, more than any other side in the league, and they don’t seem able to stop the flow of goals against them. As a result, I think we are getting good value on Martinez to score two or more goals in this one.
