Saturday afternoon (12:30) sees AFC Wimbledon welcome Ipswich Town to the Cherry Red Records Stadium in an intriguing FA Cup third-round contest.

The hosts are embarking on a League Two playoff push, losing just one of their last six in the fourth-tier, while Ipswich are on a poor run of form, and have gone five games without a win in the Championship heading into this weekend.

AFC Wimbledon vs Ipswich Town Prediction

  • Ipswich to win and both teams to score (90 mins) @ 2/1
  • Conor Chaplin to score anytime (90 mins) @ 7/5

Team News

Ali Al-Hamadi has scored 17 goals for the hosts across all competitions, but he isn't expected to feature here due to his commitment to play for Iraq in the Asian Cup this month, while his partner in attack Omar Bugiel will also be playing in the competition for Lebanon.

As for the visitors, Kieran McKenna has no fresh injury concerns to deal with, so he is expected to rotate his side here.

Marcus Harness, Freddie Ladapo, Jack Taylor and Omari Hutchinson all missed out on the action on Monday against Stoke, so they look set to feature on Saturday.

Match Odds

Due to this being a cup tie, 90-minute betting applies.

AFC Wimbledon are 4/1 to win, the draw is 16/5 and Ipswich are favourites to win at 3/5.

Both teams to score can be backed at 4/6, while over 2.5 goals is priced up at 8/13.

Although the third round of the FA Cup can spring a cup upset, I can't see that unveiling here.

The hosts have won seven of their last eight in front of their own supporters, yes, but the absence of Al-Hamadi and Bugiel up top will be sorely felt, in my opinion.

Ipswich will be able to name a fresher team and rotate following a hectic Christmas period, and although the Tractor Boys are winless in their last five games, they've only suffered three defeats in 26 matches in the Championship this term.

In addition, four of Wimbledon's last five games in all competitions have witnessed goals at both ends.

Conor Chaplin to score anytime (90 mins) @ 7/5

The former Portsmouth forward is Ipswich's joint-top scorer with eight goals so far this campaign, along with Nathan Broadhead.

The 26-year-old's only strike against Wimbledon came in a 2-0 victory while he was still at Portsmouth.

However, Chaplin hasn't scored since the 2-0 win against Middlesbrough on December 9, so he'll fancy his chances of getting on the scoresheet against lower league opposition here.
