Before the international break, our European-based Accumulator expert had another winner in his latest 3-3-3 column. He returns this week and once again has Italy, Spain and France on his radar.

Let's see if he can go back-to-back in terms of winning weeks as he goes through his Cross-European Treble with the latest edition of his 3-3-3 column...

Weekend Football Accumulator Tips - Cross-European Treble

Welcome to the 3-3-3 betting column. Why is it called that? Glad you asked.  It’s not a formation to play when you’ve had a man sent off but rather:

3- The number of different selections making up the acca.

3- The number of different (non-English) European Leagues the selections are taken from every week.

3- The minimum odds (3/1) or 4.0 if you prefer, that the acca will come to it every week.

And it really is as simple as that. The selections can be from any betting markets, as long as they meet the criteria set out above.  And to round things off, every week I’ll leave you with a cool (or at least I think so) bit of trivia involving one of the teams featured in the acca. Simples...

2025-26 season Current P and L: +1.86 pts

2024-25 season’s P and L: + 16.9

So, where were we before the international break in terms of the all-important 3-3-3 column? Oh yeah, we were winning at odds of just over 3/1 with Udinese and Cagliari drawing 1-1 to hand us an over 1.5 goals winner, Lille v PSG ending 1-1 when we needed both teams to score, and Benfica avoiding defeat against Porto like we needed them to, thanks to a José Mourinho masterclass of pragmatism.

No real secrets, no real genius strategies, just three good bets with sound logic to them that came good, which is what this column is all about.  So that was our second winner of the season and it puts us back in profit, which of course is also what this column is all about! On we go.

Weekend Football Accumulator Tips:

  • Angers v Monaco
  • Saturday, October 18, 18:00
  • Back under 9.5 corners @ 5/6

We could be here all day—and have done so in the past—discussing why games involving some teams tend to have far fewer corners than games involving other teams.

Here are a few theories (again): the team plays very narrowly, thus reducing the potential for wingers to cross the ball, and it being deflected or cleared away for a corner. The team doesn’t think they can score regularly from corners, so they will look to keep the ball in play rather than let it go out for a corner. The team plays a laboured, slow-paced brand of football where any sort of attack or opportunity is at a premium, meaning corners, just like shots on/off target, are rare.

I could come up with more theories, but I don’t think that's necessary. What is necessary is pointing out that 70.6% of Angers’ home matches last season had under 9.5 corners, as did 64% of their away matches.

For this weekend’s opponents, Monaco, it was 65% of home and away games last season that had fewer than nine corners, so they’re not too fussed about being involved in matches with lots of corners in them either.

Admittedly, the stats for this season aren’t as strong in terms of low-corner matches but we do note that all of the last four matches between these two have stayed under 9.5 corners, with that last stat convincing us that it’s a decent bet.

  • Atlético Madrid v Ossauna
  • Saturday, October 18, 20:00
  • Back Atlético Madrid to win @ 4/11

Atlético Madrid have been particularly good at home so far this season, winning their last four on home soil by 2-0, 3-2, 5-2 and 5-1, that 5-2 against Real Madrid, no less, and that 5-1 in the Champions League against Eintracht Frankfurt. The only slight blemish came right at the start of the campaign with a disappointing 1-1 draw against Elche, but if the stats are anything to go by, they should have won that one, too.

Osasuna, on the other hand have lost all four of their away matches this campaign and eight of their last nine away at Atlético, so the home win shouldn’t really be that much of a struggle for Diego Simeone’s men.

  • Como v Juventus
  • Sunday, October 19, 11:30
  • Selection: Back Both Teams to Score @ 4/5

Como are being recognised as a good BTTS team. If you don’t know what that means straight away, then let me explain. First of all, they’re being recognised as a good BTTS team by ME, always on the lookout for strong season-long trends. And secondly, that means that they’re a side with serious potential for being involved in matches where both teams score (BTTS).

That happened in 68.4% of their home matches last season, just over half of their away matches (52.6%) and the trend has carried over to this season,  where 2/3 of their home matches and 2/4 of their away matches have seen goals at both ends.

Their opponents this weekend, Juventus, didn’t mind a BTTS away match themselves last campaign, with 58% of them witnessing both teams scoring, and they’re 2/4 this campaign.

But there are two further reasons why we like the bet at 4/5. The first is that three of the four fixtures between the two ended with BTTS, the last of which was a 2-1 win for Juventus here last season.  The second is that Juventus’ key defender, Gleison Bremer, is out injured for up to two months, making Juventus far more vulnerable at the back.  Considering that we’re far more concerned about Como getting on the scoresheet than Juventus, you can see how that could be such an important factor.

 Jamie’s Fun Fact

Diego Simeone has now been in charge of Atlético Madrid since 2011 making him the second-longest serving manager in European football. He made 108 appearances as a player for Argentina, the most famous of which was the Last 16 match against England at the 1998 World Cup when David Beckham was sent off for kicking him, after Simeone had clattered into the back of the Manchester Utd midfielder.
