Palmeiras (H) to beat Red Bull Bragantino (23:00) @ 4/11

League leaders Palmeiras, who won back-to-back Serie A titles in 2022 and 2023 before relinquishing their crown last year to Botafogo, appear well-placed to reclaim the trophy, as they sit three points clear of second-place Flamengo with 12 games remaining.

Verdao are in great form, too, winning all three matches so far in October, and their latest victory, a 4-1 hammering of Juventude on the weekend, was achieved without a whole host of first-team stars, including Vitor Roque (suspended), Gustavo Gomez, Emiliano Martinez and Jose Lopez (all international duty).

Vitor Roque, Gomez and Martinez should all return for Wednesday's game against Bragantino at Allianz Parque, boosting manager Abel Ferreira's options.

Football Odds

Bragantino, meanwhile, beat Gremio 1-0 on October 4 to break out of a five-match winless run that had begun in August. However, their opponents that day, Gremio, were reduced to 10 men in the 43rd minute, and Bragantino only scored the winner from the penalty spot in the 16th minute of second-half stoppage time.

Fernando Seabra's side are ninth in the table, 22 points below Palmeiras, and are winless in their last eight away games across all competitions (D1, L7).

Unsurprisingly, Palmeiras boast the joint-best home record, having collected 32 points from 14 games at Allianz Parque (W10, D2, L2), the same as Cruzeiro. They've won their last six there in all competitions, five of which have come in the league.

After beating Bragantino 2-1 at the Estadio Municipal Cicero De Souza Marques in May, Palmeiras will expect to do the double over the Braganca Paulista-based team when they pitch up in Sao Paulo on Wednesday.

Botafogo (H) Under 1.5 Goals vs Flamengo (23:30) @ 2/7

Palmeiras' closest challengers, Flamengo, have endured a tough start to the month, drawing 0-0 at home to Cruzeiro before losing 1-0 away to Bahia, a match in which they saw both Danilo and Wallace Yan sent off. They've now won just two of their last six league games (D3, L1), with Palmeiras taking control of the title race.

Rubro-Negro now face a tricky trip to the Estadio Olimpico Nilton Santos for the 'Rivalry Derby' with reigning champions Botafogo, who can move to within nine points of Filipe Luis' side with a win on Wednesday.

Fogo are in a tricky moment, too, having won just two of their last seven games (D2, L3), and losing two of their last three.

Today's Football Fixtures

Davide Ancelotti will take confidence from his side's recent home results, though, as they are unbeaten in their last four league games at home (W3, D1), winning the latest two.

However, a fired-up Flamengo, who had won four of their last five away matches (D1) before suffering against Bahia, represents a different kind of test.

The two teams played out a goalless draw at the Maracana in May, and Flamengo, with just 13 goals conceded in 26 games, seven fewer than the next-meanest defence (Cruzeiro - 20), are likely to make Fogo work hard for any good opportunity in front of goal.

Flamengo have only conceded more than one goal in a league game on one occasion this year, in a 2-1 defeat at Cruzeiro on May 4, and I don't see Fogo, who haven't struck more than once in four of their last five outings, making that two in midweek.

Mirassol or Draw & BTTS-Yes in Mirassol (H) vs Internacional (00:00 Thurs) @ 7/5

Mirassol, who earned promotion to the Brazilian top flight for the first time in their history last year by finishing as runners-up to Serie B champions Santos, are enjoying a stunning season in Serie A so far.

Rafael Guanaes' side are currently fourth, three points ahead of 2024 champions Botafogo (fifth), and just 12 points behind leaders Palmeiras. A tilt for the title looks unlikely, but Mirassol are well in the hunt for a top-four finish that would bring Copa Libertadores football to the Estadio Jose Maria de Campos Maia.

That's the venue for their midweek fixture with Internacional (15th), who trail their next opponents by 14 points. A top-four finish is still possible for Inter, but the Copa Sudamericana is a much more realistic aim, though the immediate concern is moving away from the relegation zone.

May's reverse fixture in Porto Alegre finished 1-1, with Ricardo Mathias cancelling out Jemmes' eighth-minute strike for the visitors.

Inter are top of Serie A's 'Both Teams To Score' table, with 65% (17) of their 26 games this year seeing both teams find the net, while Mirassol (63%) are joint-second alongside Bragantino, fuelling my belief that both sides can score again in their second meeting.

If you need any more convincing, BTTS-Yes has landed in a league-high 77% of Mirassol home matches in 2025, and a league-high 75% of Inter away games.

Draw or Ceara in Sport Recife vs Ceara (00:00 Thurs) @ 4/7

Next up, we take in a meeting between two of this season's newly-promoted clubs, Sport Recife and Ceara, who finished third and fourth, respectively, in the 2024 Serie B.

Both sides won their home games against each other in the second tier, but after a goalless draw at the Estadio Adelmar da Costa Carvalho in the Copa do Nordeste in July, it was visitors Ceara, who triumphed on penalties to reach the semi-finals.

Sport Recife may have finished two points and one place better off than Ceara last year, but a real gap has opened up in 2025 - the other way.

Ceara are currently 10th, nine points clear of the relegation zone, while Sport Recife are propping up the table, seven points adrift of 19th-place Juventude, and 12 points from safety.

Sport Recife have won just two league games all season, while Ceara have lost just one of their last five (W2, D2, L1), so it's difficult to make a case for the hosts here.

It's tempting to back the visitors, who have picked up 13 points from as many away trips, to win, but I'll put a little respect on the name of Sport Recife, who have held Cruzeiro (1-1) and Fluminense (2-2) to draws this month, and instead plump for Draw or Ceara in the Double Chance market.

Santos (H) Under 1.5 Goals vs Corinthians (01:30 Thurs) @ 4/9

We end proceedings at the Estadio Urbano Caldeira, where Santos (16th) entertain Corinthians (12th).

Santos won last year's Serie B, but are currently the second-lowest ranked promoted club, sitting just one place and three points above the relegation zone. They've managed to make themselves difficult to beat over the past six weeks, losing just one of their last six games, which was their most recent one at Ceara (3-0), but they've won just once in that run (D4).

Scoring goals has been an issue for much of the season for Peixe, but particularly in the absence of Neymar, who has missed five of their last seven matches and will be sidelined again in midweek.

Santos have scored just five times across their last eight games, and have only struck multiple goals once in that period, a 2-2 draw at Bragantino on September 28.

Next, they face Corinthians, who only average 1.18 goals conceded per Serie A match this year, and kept a clean sheet last time out, beating Mirassol 3-0 at home on October 5.

Dorival Jr.'s side have conceded one or fewer goals in seven of their last eight games across all competitions, and should be able to limit Santos at a maximum of one in midweek.

Corinthians won the reverse fixture 1-0 in May, and haven't conceded more than one goal in a game to Santos since a 2-2 draw in February 2023, despite playing six times after that.
