Slim pickings on Wednesday as we look to land a midweek winner in the Football Accumulator Tips column. International football, of course, will return in full on Thursday, but until then, we're left scratching around for fixtures in some of the more obscure countries and leagues.

I've found four, though, and one is a big game in the Brazilian top flight, and another a cracking contest in the Uefa Women's Champions League. So, without further ado, check my 8/1 four-fold out below...

Total Goals - Over 3.5 in Peterborough U21 vs Crewe U21 (13:00) @ 8/15

In England’s Professional Development League, Peterborough U21s, second in the table, take on bottom club Crewe U21s, with an 18-point gap between the two teams after 12 rounds of fixtures.

Posh have won six of their last eight games, including four of their last five, and have been involved in several high-scoring contests this season. Seven of their 12 matches have finished with four or more goals, including five of their last seven.

Football Odds

The Railwaymen, meanwhile, have won just once this term, back on August 26, when they beat Millwall 3-2 in south London. Their last two games have ended 1-1, but like Peterborough, seven of their matches this season have produced four or more goals.

Peterborough’s Professional Development League games are averaging 4.08 goals, while Crewe’s are averaging 3.91, so the over 3.5 line looks achievable on Wednesday.

Total Goals - Under 2.5 in Borac Banja Luka vs Zrinjski (17:00) @ 8/13

Over in the Premier League of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the last two title winners, Borac Banja Luka (2023/24) and Zrinjski (2024/25), face off at the former’s Gradski stadion Banja Luka.

Zrinjski pipped their rivals to the title by a single point last season, and after 13 games played this term, there are just two points separating leaders Zrinjski and their hosts on Wednesday.

Today's Football Fixtures

Borac Banja Luka suffered a 2-1 defeat to Zrinjski in Mostar on October 27, but that was a break from the norm as the previous six head-to-heads had all finished with two or fewer goals (five produced a single strike).

Zrinjski’s league games this season are averaging two goals, while Borac Banja Luka’s are averaging 3.38, but they lost 1-0 at Sarajevo last Sunday.

Benfica Women (H) to beat FC Twente Women (20:00, Disney+) @ 13/10

Also on Wednesday, Benfica Women host FC Twente Women in the Uefa Women’s Champions League at the Estadio da Luz in Lisbon.

Both sides have made poor starts to their league phase campaigns, with the Portuguese powerhouses losing their first two, and the Dutch champions picking up just a single point from their opening couple of matches.

In fairness to Benfica, though, they began with a trip to Italian champions Juventus, who only won 2-1 thanks to an 86th-minute winner from Cecilia Salvai. Then, in their second game, they hosted reigning European champions Arsenal, who scored both of their goals in a 2-0 win in the second half.

Twente secured an impressive point at home against Chelsea (1-1) on MD1, but were subsequently humbled by Belgian club Leuven (2-1) on MD2.

Benfica have won three of the four H2Hs (D1), the last of which was a 2-1 victory in August 2022.

Wednesday’s visitors have only won one of their last four games in all competitions (D2, L1), while the hosts have won their last three, so momentum is with Benfica, and I’m backing them to collect a vital three points here.

Atletico MG (H) to beat Fortaleza (23:30) @ 4/6

Between August 25 and September 20, Atletico MG failed to win any of their seven games played, losing five times (D2), including the first four of those.

Back-to-back 1-0 victories over Bolivar and Mirassol in the Copa Sudamericana and Brazilian Serie A, respectively, restored some confidence, but Galo only won one of their next six matches (D3, L2).

Jorge Sampaoli’s side are now on a six-game unbeaten run (W4, D2), though, winning four of their last five, which included back-to-back victories last week as they beat Bahia 3-0 at home on Wednesday before winning 4-2 at Sport Recife on Saturday.

Suddenly, Atletico MG are back in the mix to finish in the top seven, which would earn entry into the qualification rounds of next year’s Copa Libertadores, and even a top-five spot, which brings with it a direct ticket to the group stage, is still achievable.

Next up for Galo is a home game against Fortaleza, who are 19th in the 20-team table, five points adrift of safety with just six matches left to play.

Laion are on a four-game unbeaten run (W1, D3), but they’ve failed to win any of their last three, despite facing three bottom-half sides.

Fortaleza have really struggled away from home, picking up just nine points from 15 contests - only Sport Recife (seven) and Vitoria (eight) have claimed fewer points on their travels.

A tough trip to MRV Arena, where Atletico MG have accrued 30 points from 15 games and are unbeaten since August 27, now awaits, and it’s tough to see the visitors stopping the hosts from extending their winning run at home to four matches on Wednesday.
