Stockport County (H) to beat Blackpool @ 8/11
Having parted ways with Steve Bruce last week, Blackpool are managerless after a disappointing start to their League 1 season. They currently sit second-bottom having amassed just eight points from their 11 matches so far, and things don’t get any easier as they travel to face a fancied Stockport County side on Saturday.
The Hatters haven’t quite lived up to their pre-season billing as title challengers, but they are in seventh and only sit six points off top spot. That’s a bridgeable gap, and Dave Challinor is a promotion expert. With County unbeaten in their last four, including their latest impressive victory at Huddersfield, this should be a straightforward home win.
Bolton Wanderers (A) to beat Burton Albion @ 8/11
Bolton Wanderers sit one position below Stockport in the table with three wins out of their last five under Steven Schumacher. They’ve won their last four at home but their away form needs to improve, as they were disappointingly beaten 2-0 by former player Kevin Nolan and his Northampton Town outfit in their last outing.
Burton Albion are their beleaguered opponents, with the Brewers in 21st with just one win in their last nine League 1 games. Even on the road, the Trotters will fancy their chances of picking up a valuable three points and they should have the quality to get the job done.

Huddersfield Town (A) to beat Luton Town @ 11/4
Luton Town, what on earth has happened to you? Just two seasons ago they were having mighty tussles with Liverpool and Manchester United in the Premeir League - now they are a mid-table third-tier outfit that has just parted ways with Matt Bloomfield. Bloomfield lost three of his last five and the club are still looking for a new manager, so it makes sense to back against them.
Huddersfield meanwhile are going steady under Lee Grant and currently sit in sixth. They lost at home to Stockport last time out but will want to make a big impression on the promotion race with three points here.
Northampton Town (H) to beat Rotherham United @ 11/10
Rotherham United are also in real trouble it seems, as they sit in the relegation zone with just eight points out of 10 matches. Matt Hamshaw looks to be struggling to get this team to put in a good performance, let alone get a positive result, and the former coach at the club is not experienced in these types of situations.
Relegation is a real concern now for the Millers, and they travel to Northampton needing a result. I don’t think they will get it however, with Nolan’s side up to 13th having kept four clean sheets in a row in all competitions. I can’t see Rotherham being able to break them down so will back another home win.
Grimsby Town (H) to beat Colchester United @ 4/5
We drop down to League 2 for our final selection, as Grimsby Town host Colchester United. The Mariners have enjoyed a really strong start to the campaign, and I’m not just talking about their Carabao Cup heroics against Manchester United. In the fourth tier they now sit third, having lost just one of their last five in the league.
Colchester have only won one of their five away games, but they did hit Chesterfield for six last time out. This will be a close tie, but I will lean in favour of the home side on balance to round off our EFL Acca.
