Friday night’s football schedule is highlighted by four FA Cup third-round ties, with Nottingham Forest’s trip to Wrexham the pick of the action. There is also a Scottish Championship clash taking place between Ross County and Partick Thistle, while the Africa Cup of Nations continues with two more quarter-final ties.

I've put together an acca to enhance that pays out at 12/1, if successful. Without further ado, check out my Football Accumulator Tips for Friday, January 9, below.

Wrexham (H) to beat Nottingham Forest (19:30 GMT, TNT Sports 1) @ 3/1

Wrexham host Nottingham Forest in the third round of the FA Cup, and there could be an upset on the cards in Wales.

The Red Dragons are on a four-game winning streak heading into this contest, beating Derby, Blackburn, Preston and Sheffield United and scoring 11 goals in the process.

Wrexham have been strong at the Racecourse Ground, losing just three times in all competitions and putting together a seven-match unbeaten run in front of their own supporters.

Visitors Forest downed Premier League relegation rivals West Ham 2-1 on Tuesday night, but that was a fairly fortunate success and ensuring top-flight survival takes precedence over a cup run.

The Tricky Trees have struggled in the final third, netting just five times in their last five fixtures, and they could be the first big shock of the FA Cup third round.

Port Vale (H) to beat Fleetwood (19:30 GMT, TNT Sports 7) @ 8/13

Port Vale are stuck at the bottom of League 1, 10 points from safety, but the Valiants can secure some relief in the FA Cup by beating Fleetwood.

Vale should have confidence restored following their 5-1 hammering of Blackpool on New Year’s Day, while Fleetwood were awful when losing 1-0 to Grimsby in League 2 on the same day.

It’s three games without a win or a goal for the Cod Army, and they could struggle at Vale Park, a venue they haven’t won at in normal time since 2015.

Partick (A) to beat Ross County (19:45 GMT, BBC iPlayer) @ 21/20

Ross County appointed their third manager of the season when Stuart Kettlewell was brought back for his second spell in charge of the Staggies last week, but things are unlikely to go as well for him the second time around.

County were ante-post favourites for the Scottish Championship, but they are five points adrift at the bottom of the second-tier table, and they face a battle to remain in the division.

Kettlewell’s men did pick up a 0-0 draw with Championship leaders St Johnstone last weekend, but County registered only one shot on goal in that contest, and a lack of cutting edge could hamper them when hosting Patrick Thistle.

Partick put three goals past Morton in a 3-2 victory last time out, extending their unbeaten run to four matches in all competitions.

Sitting second in the table and five points off top spot, the visitors look capable of picking up a crucial victory to keep them in touching distance of leaders St. Johnstone.
