Five days after meeting in Serie A at San Siro, AC Milan and Bologna go head-to-head again as they contest Wednesday's (20:00, Premier Sports 1) Coppa Italia final at Stadio Olimpico in Rome. Milan won the recent encounter 3-1 which should give them a psychological boost heading into the showpiece.

Bologna did take the lead in that match, though, and they are likely to be even more determined to prevail on this occasion with a first major trophy in 50 years at stake. Below you will find my AC Milan vs Bologna predictions, aided by the latest team news and match odds.

Team News

Milan will have two key players that missed Friday's final warm-up at San Siro back in contention as midfielder Youssouf Fofana returns from injury and electric winger Rafael Leao is available after suspension.

Fikayo Tomori, who has benefitted from Sergio Conceicao's system, was forced off by a knock in Milan, and he will need to be monitored closely ahead of the trip to Rome.

Warren Bondo (ankle) and Riccardo Sottil (thigh) are the most likely players to miss the final due to injury.

Conceicao has multiple options up front in Luka Jovic, Tammy Abraham and Santiago Gimenez. The latter came off the bench to score twice and win the game for the Rossoneri and he may be promoted to the starting lineup in place of Jovic at Stadio Olimpico.

Leao should come straight back into the attack, while Christian Pulisic is expected to keep his place in the other supporting role.

AC Milan vs Bologna Stats

  • Milan have won four games in a row in all competitions
  • BTTS has struck in four of the last five meetings between the two clubs
  • Over 2.5 goals has landed in both head-to-heads this season

Bologna's attack is set to be led by Thijs Dallinga over Santiago Castro due to the latter suffering with a lingering foot issue. Riccardo Orsolini should provide support from the right flank and he was on the scoresheet when the two sides met at San Siro five days ago. The Italy international has 15 goals across all competitions this campaign.

Benjamín Domínguez provided width on the left last time out but faces competition from Nicolo Cambiaghi and Switzerland international Dan Ndoye, who scored against Milan at Renato Dall'Ara back in February.

Remo Freuler will look to pull the strings from the middle of the park. Emil Holm is set to return from a layoff, he can compete with Lorenzo De Silvestri and ex-Milan skipper Davide Calabria to start on the right side of the defence.

AC Milan vs Bologna Odds

Milan have won four games in a row across all competitions heading into this contest and they are 7/5 (which has an implied probability of 41.7%) to prevail in regulation time.

Bologna have drawn two of their past three matches coming into Wednesday and the stalemate is available at 2/1. The Rossoblu have two victories in their previous five outings in all competitions, and they have also won one of their two fixtures inside this stadium in 2025/26. They are 9/5 to come out on top inside 90 minutes.

There have been goals at both ends in four of the last five meetings between these two clubs and BTTS can be backed at 4/5 on this occasion.

AC Milan and both teams to score @ 4/1

It has not been the greatest of seasons for AC Milan in Serie A but as they approach their final two fixtures in the league they have the chance to secure European football with four points separating them in eighth from Juventus in fourth.

The Rossoneri have already secured one trophy this season, though, defeating bitter rivals Inter Milan in the Supercoppa Italiana final in Riyadh back in January. They also bested the Nerazzurri in the semi-finals of this competition last month, denying Simone Inzaghi's men the chance of a quadruple and then a treble season.

Conceicao has had a positive impact since taking the reins in January and the fact that his side are in the conversation for European football next term just highlights the job he has overseen in the past few months.

Having beaten Wednesday's opponents within the last week, Milan have the edge in this final and I think they will use it to good effect in Rome. They have the momentum of four wins in a row, which should prove too much for Bologna.

The Rossoblu are chasing their first major trophy in over 50 years and you'd argue that this game will mean more to them because they have waited a long time for success of this magnitude.

I've added BTTS to the selection as I do think Bologna can cause Milan problems. They opened the scoring at San Siro on Friday, while beating them 2-1 on their own patch back in February.

Goals at both ends have been frequent in this fixture in recent years, striking in four of the previous five contests.

Over 2.5 goals @ 11/10

I believe these two teams can deliver an entertaining final, so I am backing over 2.5 goals in Rome. This has been a winning selection in both meetings between the two teams in 2024/25 so far, while three of Milan's past four outings in all competitions have produced three or more goals.

For Bologna, two of their last four matches in all competitions have featured over 2.5 goals, and with the latest being agains the same opponents I think this is a smart bet for the Coppa Italia final.
