Only two points separate Aberdeen and Dundee in the Scottish Premiership standings and both sides have plenty of work to do if they are to start climbing the table.

The Dons finished third in the Scottish top-flight last season, but are languishing in eighth place after playing 20 games this term and that is way off what was expected of Barry Robson’s men.

Dundee’s priority will have been avoiding a return to the second tier after their promotion from the Championship last season, and the Dee are well on course to at least achieving that aim.

Aberdeen vs Dundee Tips

  • Aberdeen to win @ 7/10
  • Over 2.5 goals @ 10/11

Match Odds

Aberdeen are 7/10 to make it four wins in their last five home games, while Dundee are 18/5 to win on the road and the draw is a 13/5 shot.

Team News

For the hosts, James McGarry has been ruled out until mid-February and Slobodan Rubezic is suffering from a knee injury. Loan signings Rhys Williams and Or Dadia have returned to their parent clubs.

For the visitors, Antonio Portales is a long-term absentee and the suspended Luke McCowan joins the Mexican on the sidelines.

First-choice goalkeeper Trevor Carson missed the weekend trip to Livingston, while back-up gloveman Adam Legzdins was only fit enough for a place on the bench.

Aberdeen to win @ 7/10

Dundee hammered Livingston 4-1 at the weekend and on the face of it the Dee should have a good chance of winning at Pittodrie.

However, there are a few reasons to think that the Dark Blues may come up short in the Granite City on Tuesday evening.

Livi are a poor side who have lost 12 of their last 14 SPL matches and a victory over David Martindale’s men is anything but high-level form.

Livingston actually had more of the ball and won the shot and corner count on Saturday, but Dundee scored four goals from only five shots on target.

The suspension of McCowan is also another blow to Dundee’s chances and the home side may prove too strong.

The Dons have won three of their last four home matches and they have been good enough to beat Eintracht Frankfurt and hold Rangers at Pittodrie this season, suggesting Robson’s side are better than their current league position.

Aberdeen should be too strong for Dundee back on their own patch.

Aberdeen to beat Dundee at 7/10

Over 2.5 goals @ 10/11

Dundee have seen eight of their last ten matches go over the 2.5-goal mark and that trend could continue in the Granite City.

Aberdeen are strong going forward, but they are not rock-solid at the back and three of their last four home matches have seen at least three goals scored.

The Dons have the firepower to score two or three goals, with ten-goal man Bojan Miovski in their ranks, while Dundee are well capable of contributing to a high-scoring contest on Tuesday evening.
