For those who are still new to the notion of Extra Place Races, the criteria is straightforward. For a handful of races each day, the Horse Racing traders pick out races both domestically and internationally where if your horse finishes one place outside of the usual positions for paying out on for an each-way bet, we’ll still consider that bet a winner.

On most occasions outside of the big festivals, you’ll find this promotion most commonly associated with races featuring seven or 12 runners, where we will pay out on a top three finish in a seven-horse race and then four places for a 12-horse race.

The important terms for if horses are classified as a non-runner in an Extra Place Race here at Betfred are listed below but you can check out the full Terms & Conditions at the aforementioned linked to promo page.

Extra Place - 3 Places: If there are fewer than 6 runners standard place terms will apply
Extra Place - 4 Places: If there are fewer than 12 runners standard place terms will apply
Extra Place - 5 Places: If there are fewer than 16 runners we will pay 4 Places (1/5 odds)
Extra Place - 6 Places: If there are fewer than 20 runners we will pay 5 Places (1/5 odds)
Extra Place - 7 Places: If there are fewer than 26 runners we will pay 6 Places (1/5 odds)

This promotion is available to all Betfred account holders, whether you are a new or existing customer and should your horse successfully finish in any of the place positions, we'll pay out at 1/5 odds.
