Cricket wicket generic

With India guaranteed a spot in the final after winning on Wednesday and Sri Lanka knocked out, Pakistan's match with Bangladesh has effectively become a semi-final.

Dan Thomas is here with the best betting angles for Thursday's clash, live on TNT Sport from 15:30, as he brings us his Pakistan vs Bangladesh predictions…

Pakistan vs Bangladesh Betting Tips

Pakistan get the job done

Pakistan's performance against Sri Lanka in their second Super Fours clash was far from smooth but ultimately effective. They restricted Sri Lanka to 133, with Kamindu Mendis the only player to score more than 20. Shaheen Afridi was instrumental with the ball, taking 3 wickets for 28, while Haris Rauf and Mohammad Nawaz chipped in with important strikes to keep Sri Lanka well under a par score.

In reply, Pakistan started well but then wobbled, slipping from 43 without loss in five overs to 80/5 in the 12th over, losing four wickets in quick succession. At that point, the chase looked in jeopardy.

However, a calm, unbroken partnership between Mohammad Nawaz (38 off 24) and Hussain Talat (32 off 30) added 58 runs off 41 balls, steadying the innings and guiding Pakistan home with 12 balls to spare.

Bangladesh

Bangladesh looked like they would face a huge chase on Wednesday when India raced to 72 off the Powerplay overs but the bowling unit did well in restricting the tournament favourites to 168.

With skipper Litton Das ruled out with injury prior to the game, it was nevertheless a stiff task and Bangladesh never really looked like they were going to get close, despite another half-century from Saif Hassan.

The right-handed opener continued his fine form from the win over Sri Lanka, hitting 69 off 51 balls, including three maximums. But he received little support from the other end, and India were able to run through the tail to wrap up a comfortable 41-run victory.

Pakistan vs Bangladesh Predicted Lineups:

  • Pakistan: Fakhar Zaman, Sahibzada Farhan, Saim Ayub, Salman Ali Agha (c), Mohammad Haris (wk), Mohammad Nawaz, Faheem Ashraf, Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf, Abrar Ahmed, Hasan Ali
  • Bangladesh: Tanzid Hasan, Parvez Hossain Emon, Saif Hassan, Towhid Hridoy, Jaker Ali (c & wk),  Shamim Hossain,  Mohammad Saifuddin, Rishad Hossain, Nasum Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman, Tanzim Hasan Sakib

Key Odds

The traders have Pakistan as strong favourites for this one at 4/11, with Bangladesh rated as 2/1 chances. Given Pakistan's inconsistencies, they look on the short side but it's a big ask for Bangladesh to come back 24 hours after a big defeat, and Das is a huge loss to the batting line-up, if his side strain continues to keep him out.

Despite under par knocks against Sri Lanka, openers Fakhar Zaman and Sahibzada Farhan are joint favourites at 14/5 to top score for Pakistan, with Saim Ayub a 7/2 shot. The market for Bangladesh top batter is more open, with the in-form Hassan, Tanzid Hasan and Das all at 7/2.

On the bowling front, Pakistan pacers Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf head the market at 14/5, with Hasan Ali at 3/1. For Bangladesh, Mustafizur Rahman is the 14/5 favourite after picking up eight wickets in the tournament already, with Tanzim Hasan Sakib a 10/3 shot.

Best Bets:

We had a nice 9/2 winner in backing Hassan to top score against Sri Lanka and he was the clear standout once again in the India match so we can't desert him here for Bangladesh top batter, even though it's shorter at 7/2.

We'll go with another form man to take most wickets for Pakistan and back Afridi, who looked sharp when picking up 3/28 in their match against the Sri Lankans.
