Fresh from an 11/2 winner last time out, Jamie Pacheco previews the 3rd T20I from Dharamshala on Sunday, December 14, 2025 with a start time 13:30 and live on TNT Sports.

Jamie thinks South Africa can do it all over again at a big price, while he also has 9/1 and 14/5 selections on Indian players with bat and ball, respectively. Let's check out his India vs South Africa Predictions here at Betfred Insights...

Match Preview:

India

India had a bad day at the office on Thursday all round, first conceding far too many and then never getting going in a stiff chase. It's a reminder that any side can make mistakes and that T20 is, of course, the most volatile of the formats, where anything can happen.

Our selection Arshdeep Singh was a case in point. Normally almost a guarantee of a wicket in his first two overs and known for being economical throughout his spell, he did neither. No wickets and 54 extremely costly runs in what was arguably his poorest performance with an Indian shirt to date.

So, it was a good thing for us that 11/2 selection Tilak Varma was the only Indian player to show some fight and find some form with the bat, making 62 to top score and hand us a good winner.

We noted the promotion of Axar Patel to number three – a bit excessive in my opinion – and he managed 21 off 21. That batting position makes a mockery of some of the prices he's been on offer at, but as I pointed out in the preview, he very rarely actually wins a top bat betting heat.

Shubman Gill's poor form continues, but it would be a bit drastic to bring in Sanju Samson for him. Singh could be dropped here for Harshit Rana. Kuldeep Yadav could come in for Dube.

South Africa

Maybe SA aren't done just yet in terms of this Tour after all.  They won the Test Series 2-0, lost the ODI Series 2-1 but have a great chance to win this T20 one now; winning Series in two out of three formats over in India, would be a massive achievement.

Of course, they mostly have Quinton de Kock to thank for that win, his brilliant 90 off 46 was always going to put India under severe pressure. Donovan Ferreira and David Miller played good cameos at the end as well, a reminder that they have some firepower in the lower middle-order, too.

Tristan Stubbs was the man sacrificed last time out and having won on Thursday, they may decide this is the best balance for the team in the conditions, unless Keshav Maharaj comes back.

India vs South Africa 2nd IT20 Predicted Lineups

  • India: Abishek Sharma, Gill, Yadav, Varma, KL Pandya, Sharma, Axar, Kuldeep, Chakravarthy, Arshdeep Singh, Bumrah.
  • South Africa: de Kock, Hendricks, Markram, Brevis, Miller, Ferreira, Jansen, Linde, Maharaj, Ngidi, Baartman.

Pitch and conditions.

Dharamsala is a beautiful ground as we all know but the weather may not be so beautiful: it may resemble Durham in May more than Kolkata in summer.

We do expect a flat wicket, but this is one of those grounds where it's not necessarily an advantage to bat first, or second, on it.

185-190 first up could be on the cards but it may not necessarily be a winning score.

Match Winner odds.

The 15/8 price (34%) on SA is extremely tempting, no doubt about it.

Ask yourself, 'if this match is played 100s of times with the players available, at this ground, do India win this match 2/3 times they play it?'

Probably not. For starters, because half the team is out of form: Sky Yadav, Gill, Arshdeep, even Bumrah doesn't look at his best.

And if the wicket seems and swings, that will play more into SA's hands than India's. They're worth a bet at that price.

India Top Batsman

The odds-compilers are taking a serious risk pricing up Hardik Pandya at 9/1.

He already won, very easily, in the first match with 59 not out, yet he's the same price here again. Maybe they feel that coming in down at six like he did last time, there are just too many class batters to beat.

But he came in at six because of that promotion of Axar Patel's, which didn't really work out, so we expect him at five again.

As stated already, two of the men in that Top 4 – Sky and Gill – are badly out of form, so Pandya could have a very good chance here.

India Top Bowler

I wasn't quite sure whether Varun Chakravarthy would play in this Series with so many spin options, but he did and hasn't let anyone down.

He was top-wicket taker in the second match with two and had dead-heated in the first one, also with two.

It's worth pointing out that Arshdeep plays here quite often with the Punjab Kings in the IPL and has a good record here so the 3/1 may interest some.

That of course is countered by the fact he'll be having nightmares about what happened on Thursday. Bumrah, 13/5, hasn't looked particularly sharp by his standards.

Chakravarthy, with a T20I strike rate of 13.4, one of the best in the world, will do us just fine at 14/5.
