Trent bridge nottingham rockets

England won on Saturday under the overcast skies at Old Trafford but our Cricket correspondent Jamie Pacheco doesn't think they'll do so again on Tuesday. He previews the third of a five game series between England and India at Trent Bridge, with a start time of 5:30PM on Tuesday 7 July, live on Sky Sports Cricket.

Jamie is fresh from a 13/5 winner with his only selection in the previous match and has 9/5 and 8/1 tips for this one as he takes us through his England vs India Predictions...

England vs India T20 Betting Tips

England

England recovered from the loss of two early wickets to chase down a total of 191 that looked a little under par, with Jacob Bethell the headline act with his 76 not out off 44, while Harry Brook (39 off 15) and Tom Banton (39 off 32) gave him good support.

Earlier, Sam Curran returned his best figures in a T20I match on home soil with 3-33, while Jofra Archer, Adil Rashid and Josh Tongue were expensive, all going at more than 11 an over.

Saqib Mahmood was a notable omission after bowling well in the first game and may return here at the expense of Tongue or Archer, who as ever, is having his workload carefully managed.

Will Jacks continues to do a solid job with the ball and is becoming increasingly accustomed to his finisher role.

India

India will feel they left 10-15 runs out there that could have made a big difference to the outcome of the match after a good start.

That start included teenager Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, on his much-awaited international debut, hitting 14 off 10 that included two sixes.

But they stuttered a bit in the middle overs, no one got to 50, and that cost them. But what really cost them was the horror show that was Ravi Bishnoi's three no-balls. The free hits were duly dispatched, and the spinner ended up with figures of 0-60; there really is no excuse for a spinner bowling front-foot no-balls at this level, and that can't have impressed skipper Shreyas Iyer.

Arshdeep Singh provided us with a good winner at 13/5 for top India bowler when he took three wickets but was also expensive, his four overs going for 40.

Bishnoi may make way for fellow spinner Washington Sundar or Prince Yadav, if they decide they'd rather have another pace option.

England vs India Predicted Lineups

England (Confirmed XI): 1 Phil Salt, 2 Jos Buttler (wk), 3 Harry Brook (capt.), 4 Jacob Bethell, 5 Tom Banton, 6 Will Jacks, 7 Sam Curran, 8 Liam Dawson, 9 Jofra Archer, 10 Adil Rashid, 11 Josh Tongue

India: 1 Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, 2 Abhishek Sharma, 3 Ishan Kishan (wk), 4 Shreyas Iyer (capt.), 5 Tilak Varma, 6 Shivam Dube, 7 Axar Patel, 8 Arshdeep Singh, 9 Harshit Rana, 10 Bishnoi 11. Varun Chakravarthy.

Pitch and conditions.

We're at Trent Bridge for this one. England were scheduled to play South Africa here last year but the game was abandoned.

The average runs per over here is 8.18 over the years, but there are signs that the wicket has been better recently. In 2023, England's 175 wasn't enough against New Zealand and in 2022, England posted 215, which India made a good fist of chasing, but they ended up a bit short with 198. So the team batting first may be targeting around the 200 mark.

It should be a lovely day in Nottingham, so that should help the batsmen.

Match Winner odds

4/5 England plays evens on India. That's not what I just wrote. That's what I wrote ahead of the last match, but the odds have stayed exactly the same, so no need to change it!

We always had a feeling that this Series would be a closely contested one so it would be no surprise if after the first washed-out game and England's win in the second, it ended up a drawn series. And this may just be the sort of wicket where the likes of Abishek Sharma, Sooryavanshi or Iyer get a big one, and just as importantly, in super quick time.

But we can do better than the evens on India. With the sun out on such a good wicket and with the recent high scores here, we think both teams should score at least 170 runs, so at the boosted 9/5, we're going with the India win and the two teams doing just that.

Top England Bowler

Will Jacks was a pick for top England bowler in the first game but didn't have the best of games with the ball in that one before an improved effort of 1-22 in the second game. That was the wicket of Sooryavanshi and it's very possible they decide to go with the ploy of opening with the spin of Jacks against the youngster again.

As ever, the rationale with Jacks is that, as a 13/2 shot, a two-or-three-way lead heat would see us get a good payout. Of course, it would help if he bowled four overs rather than three this time, but even three may be enough. But we'll keep stakes to a minimum here.
