Cove Rangers (A) to beat Dumbarton (3pm) @ 13/10

Dumbarton finished second-bottom of League Two last season and look like a really poor side again this term, having been hammered in their three Scottish League Cup games so far. Cove Rangers only sit one division above them but should be able to heap on the misery in this cup clash.

Livingston (A) to beat Stenhousemuir (3pm) @ 1/2

Livingston secured an 8-0 win over Forfar last time out, and the Championship outfit face Stenhousemuir, also of the second tier. Livi finished bottom of the Premiership last season but look strong again for the start of the new campaign. They host Stenhousemuir, who won the Scottish League One play-offs last term and will face Livingston in the Champ this season.

Two teams that should be at opposite ends of the table, and I’ll back the away side to get another cup victory.

Inverness Caledonian Thistle (A) to beat Greenock Morton (3pm) @ 4/7

Inverness won League One last season ahead of Stenhousemuir and will be fancying their chances of making a decent impact on the Championship this term. Eight points from three League Cup matches (one bonus point for a penalty shoutout win after a draw), means that they are on track to progress, with Greenock Morton their next opponents.

Greenock Morton only just avoided the drop from the second tier last term and look a mess right now, having lost three from three in the cup, including an embarrassing 1-0 home defeat to fifth-tier outfit Linlithgow Rose. They haven’t even scored a goal yet, so this one should go the way of the visitors.

Recoleta (H) to beat San Lorenzo (8pm) @ 5/6

Paraguay is the place to be right now as the Clausura (second season of 2026) begins. Recoleta, who finished eighth out of 12 in the Apertura, begin their fresh campaign with a kind home tie against basement side San Lorenzo, who were pretty poor throughout the first half of the year. They finished bottom, on just 15 points from 22 games, having won just three matches all year.

Two of those came in their final three games so I am a little wary of that uptick in form, but ultimately I think we have to back the home side here until we see a more sustained improvement from San Lorenzo.

Liverpool to beat Sunderland (11pm) @ 1/2

I don’t usually like betting on friendlies, but I think this Saturday night encounter is worth adding in. Liverpool will be looking to get a marker down early on in Nashville, Tennessee, against a Sunderland outfit that is missing most of its first team players due to the World Cup.

The Black Cats, or should that be the Black Kittens, have had to name a youthful squad for this pre-season trip, so Liverpool should be able to get the victory on Saturday night.
