Lucky 15 Tips: Billy can find the back of the net at Wolves

Monday 13th July 2026, 18:19

First two of Saturday's L15 tips whizzed in at Chester, and in the ITV piece we picked the winner of the big handicap at York too, plus other scorers. Let's hope that decent form continues this week, along with the sunshine, and in a bid to access some bigger fields let's pop across to Wolverhampton, and their seven-race card on the Tapeta that kicks in at 16:53.

Regular readers will know I love the all-weather, and it often provides the perfect year-round launchpad to hone and fine-tune the skills of the likes of Rossa Ryan and Billy Loughnane, now highly-decorated absolute masters of every kind of flat-race discipline. Billy's here on Tuesday, too, with a hatful of chances.

16:53 Wolverhampton - Ghost Story @ 5/1

Class 5 handicap over 1m 4f for fillies, three-year-olds and above.

The aforementioned high-flying Billy Loughnane has the riding assignment for trainer John Butler, who has a stonking five winners from his last 12 runners.

The five year old Ghost Story, by an Arc winner and out of an Invincible Spirit mare, has two wins from 11 starts to date and she's dropped to a very tempting mark (66).

Very lightly raced, she should be coming to the boil after two runs this year (April and June), and these are not formidable-looking foes. Billy rides for the first time and that looks significant. He rode a winner for the yard at Ayr eight days ago.

17:25 Wolverhampton - George Wickham @ 11/4

One for Jane Austen fans. The race is a 6f maiden.

George Wickham, a three-year-old gelding and one of Pride & Prejudice's most notorious bounders, is beautifully named as he's by Soldier's Call out of a Famous Name mare (Blushing Gal).

Just two runs so far, and the latest is by far the best, 33 days ago. Second of eight, beaten 3l at Yarmouth, and running on nicely. Gary & Josh Moore train, with the excellent Paddy Bradley in the plate (as he was last time).

Looks to have a fine opportunity to open his account.

18:25 Wolverhampton - Wilbur @ 11/4

A 7f maiden this time, for two-year-olds.

Billy The Kid-time again, and a Kingman colt with two solid runs behind him at Newbury, and Catterick. Those spins were over 6f and then today's trip of seven, and Wilbur was only beaten around 4l when adding the two distances together.

He's got an experience advantage over several of today's rivals, trainer Harry Eustace has had a couple of recent winners from only nine runners (last 14 days), and there's Billy. He's mustard pretty much everywhere, especially Dunstall Park.

18:55 Wolverhampton - Adelaide Bay @ 10/3

Basement Class 6 handicap over 7f, for four-year-olds and upwards.

Jane Chapple-Hyam trains, in Suffolk, and Stevie Donohoe is doing the pushing. Adelaide Bay is a four-year-old gelding by a French Derby winner and out of a Camelot mare, three wins from 19 starts so far, and last time only 12 days ago was beaten just a length at Yarmouth running on, same trip/grade.

He has run and indeed won here before, and it looks very much like his turn is close at hand. Stevie knows him well and he's decently drawn in the four box.

If all four of our selections won, today's notional 50p win Lucky 15, at the prices indicated (they can of course fluctuate), would return around £420 for a £7.50 total stake. If you can improve upon our selections (of course you can) - then go for it!
