Lucky 15 Tips: Suggy deserves another chance at Wolverhampton

There are five meetings across Britain and Ireland on Monday and there are some thoroughly competitive races to take in across the day.

Ayr and Lingfield provide the afternoon entertainment but the bulk of the action comes in the evening, with a National Hunt card from Roscommon in Ireland and a couple more Flat fixtures from Ripon and Wolverhampton in Britain. There are four horses in particular who catch our eye on Monday so we’ve assessed their chances in detail and put them into our Lucky 15 tips.

15:30 Ayr - Blakefell @ 7/1

Ivan Furtado runs the lightly raced three-year-old BLAKEFELL at Ayr and an 8lb age allowance could prove to be fairly generous. This son of Kodi Bear was an excellent second in a Class 2 maiden at Musselburgh in November and is going the right way in handicaps.

He got off the mark on his first start of the season and has progressed in a couple of handicaps since. Third off this mark at this track over a longer trip last time out, he was only a length behind the winner on that occasion and further progress seems likely.

16:15 Lingfield - Law Of Average @ 11/2

Chelsea Banham runs the in-form LAW OF AVERAGE at Lingfield and he got the current campaign off to the perfect start when winning narrowly at Bath. The gelding showed a good attitude to hang on for a narrow win, having made all the running beforehand.

Better was to come at Hamilton after that and he made all the running once again but managed to score by a more comfortable margin, despite racing off a 4lb higher mark.

He’s 5lb better off with Michaela’s Boy, having finished third behind that rival last time out, and looks well set for a return to winning ways, having been dropped 1lb since.

19:40 Ripon - Rock Of England @ 9/2

Paul Midgley’s ROCK OF ENGLAND has been pretty consistent recently and could be rewarded with a third win of the season at Ripon. Leaving his seasonal debut well behind, he improved significantly to win at Newcastle, at the expense of two next-time-out winners.

There were excuses for his next run, although he managed to finish third despite the fact that he bled on that occasion. Midgley’s gelding returned to winning ways at Ripon when last seen and his old form suggests winning off a mark of 72 should not be beyond him.

20:00 Wolverhampton - Suggy @ 7/2

Charles Hills’ SUGGY wasn’t asked too many tough questions when struggling in three starts in maiden and novice company but those runs had the desired impact of getting the son of Sergei Prokofiev a handicap mark, which has made a big difference to him.

Second in a Bath nursery on handicap debut, he filled the same spot at Kempton the following month but managed to get a lot closer, eventually being denied by a head.

He won well at Kempton in May and appears to be much happier on artificial surfaces, making him a prime pick for this Wolverhampton race

A 50p Lucky 15 on these selections at the quoted prices would return around £1,206.06 for a total £7.50 stake if all were first past the post.
