Below are my Mexico vs Ecuador Bet Builder Tips, featuring a Premier League star...

Total Goals - Under 2.5

Mexico and Ecuador have played each other twice in the last couple of years, meeting in the group stage of the Copa America in July 2024 and in a friendly last October, drawing 0-0 and 1-1, respectively, to make it three draws in a row, having played out a goalless stalemate in a June 2022 friendly.

Mexico have played 11 times this calendar year and eight of those games have finished with two or fewer goals, including two of their three group-stage matches.

Ecuador also saw two of their three group-stage games go under 2.5 goals, making it four from seven in 2026, and their qualifiers averaged just 1.05 goals per game, with 14 scored and five conceded in 18 matches.

I'm predicting a nervy battle between the two here, so Under 2.5 Goals in regulation time looks like a solid bet.

Total Cards Over (3) - Over 4.5

Six yellows have been shown in each of the last three head-to-heads, two of which were friendlies, so we can probably expect the cards to come out in Mexico City.

Over 4.5 Total Cards landed in Ecuador's goalless draw with Curacao, with one yellow shown to La Tri and five to their opponents, while six cards, two red and four yellows, were dished out in Mexico's 2-0 victory over South Africa on the opening day (one yellow and one red to El Tri).

Mexico vs Ecuador Odds

Player 2+ Shots (Sub Switch) - Julian Quinones (MEX)

Mexico's Colombian-born forward Julian Quinones starred in the group stage, scoring against South Africa and the Czech Republic. The 29-year-old recorded five attempts against the former and four against the latter either side of one shot against South Korea.

Quinones, who averaged 4.4 shots per game for Al-Qadsiah in the 2025/26 Saudi Pro League campaign, should be able to pull the trigger at least twice against Ecuador, who conceded 15 shots to Ivory Coast, 10 to Curacao, and 11 to Germany.

Betred's Sub Switch rolls your bet to the oncoming substitute, so you stay in the game, even when your player doesn’t.

Player 1+ Shots (Sub Switch) - Moises Caicedo (ECU)

Ecuador midfielder Moises Caicedo, who was surprisingly named captain, replacing Enner Valencia, following the conclusion of the group stage, recorded one shot in each of La Tri's group-stage games, and he averaged 0.8 shots per game in qualifying, as well as 0.8 per game in last season's Premier League for Chelsea.

If Mexico are as organised defensively as they have been so far at this World Cup, Caicedo, who has taken two of his three shots from outside of the penalty box, is likely to try something special from long range.
