Sunday Greyhound Tips: Three selections from Hove

1 pt 15:38 Hove – Rifle Bullet (T6) @ SP

Lennies Eddie recorded a quick-away-made-all success at Towcester last night to land the Star Sports & Orchestrate English Greyhound Derby, massive congratulations to owner Lee Craze, to Paul and Susan Hennessy and all of the team.

Today we head to the Nevill Road circuit Hove for a competitive graded card featuring action over two and four-bends distances. At 15:38 look out for well-drawn wide seed RIFLE BULLET, who runs from T6 in the A8 graded race over the four-bend 500-metre trip at the south coast venue. The Derek Knight-trained December 2022 son of Hiya Butt returns to action this afternoon following a spell off the track. Prior to the layoff, Rifle Bullet had won in this grade then finished mid-pack in A7. The ease back into A8 company will suit this afternoon and a vacant box on his immediate inside strengthens his claims. The key, as ever, in a competitive race will be the break, lead round and its race on. Improving youngster Elite Rose rates as the danger from T3 and is worth including in forecast bets.

1 pt 16:16 Hove – Westwood Max (T3) @ SP

The A6 graded race at 16:16 can go to debutant WESTWOOD MAX from T3. The October 2024 son of Ballymac Bolger has moved well in trials over this four-bend 500-metre trip, clocking 30.26 and 30.25 during March and April and then 30.52 last week.

Those times would make Max the one to beat and, with further improvement likely, he looks a solid play this afternoon. Emers Lizzy (T1) looks well-drawn to challenge from a rails pitch and rates as the main danger. Clohenna Blueboy (T4) bolted up last time out winning in 30.31 from off the pace. That was a smart performance, and he’s another with live claims.

1 pt 17:12 Hove – Cecil Deville (T5) @ SP

The third and final selection from Hove is CECIL DEVILLE, who lines up from T5 in the two-bend D3 graded sprint at 17.12 over the 285-metre trip. The Rosie Tungatt-trained runner was off the track from December until mid-May and has recently gone close three times over course and distance. Those runs would have blown away the cobwebs and Cecil Deville should be spot on and ready to return to winning ways.

Prior to the spell off the track, the son of Superior Panama was running well in open class and top D1 company. This represents a huge drop in grade. Former Oxford-based railer Agincourt Mavka (T1) is a consistent sprinter and would be worth including in forecast bets. Burrow Lightyear (T2) is six from sixteen in the grade and is another in with chances.
