Australia vs Switzerland Prediction: Ndoye to net again for Nati

Switzerland enjoyed a 4-1 victory over Jordan in their first friendly of the summer last Sunday, but before they focus all of their efforts on 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America, they play one final friendly, at Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego, California, on Saturday (12pm local, 8pm BST). Australia, also set to appear at the World Cup, are Nati's opponents, and the Socceroos will look to right the wrongs of their 1-0 defeat to Mexico last week.
Below are my Australia vs Switzerland predictions, alongside all the latest team news and match odds.

Team News
Switzerland striker Breel Embolo, who started and scored in Nati's victory over Jordan, has ran into visa issues that saw him left behind in Europe, and it remains to be seen whether he lands in time for Saturday's friendly.
The Rennes forward could be replaced in Murat Yakin's starting XI by Cedric Itten or Zeki Amdouni.
Cristian Volpato and Tete Yengi are still awaiting their Australia debuts after being left on the bench for last week's 1-0 defeat to Mexico by Tony Popovic, so the duo will hope Saturday is the day they make their international bow.
Other non-starters against El Tri, like Watford winger Nestory Irankunda, could come into the side from the off.

Switzerland and Australia have met once before, in a September 2010 friendly, playing out a goalless draw.

Australia vs Switzerland Stats
- Three of AUS' last five games have gone under 2.5 goals
- Five of SWI's last seven have gone that way
- Ndoye (SWI) has scored three goals in his last four int'l apps
Total Goals - Under 2.5 @ 8/11
Australia are more renowned for their defensive resilience than attacking brilliance, failing to score in three of their last five games, including last week's 1-0 defeat to Mexico.
Three of the Socceroo's last five matches have finished with two or fewer goals, while two of Switzerland's last five have gone that way, or four of their last seven to extend it further.
Nati kept four clean sheets in their qualification campaign, conceding just twice, and half (three) of their six qualifiers went under 2.5 goals.

Anytime Goalscorer - Dan Ndoye (SWI) @ 12/5
Dan Ndoye endured a difficult first season at Nottingham Forest following his big-money summer move from Bologna, scoring just twice in 37 appearances across all competitions, but he's remained potent for his national team, netting four times since the start of September.
The 25-year-old's strike in last week's 4-1 victory over Jordan was his seventh in 30 caps, and his sixth in 12 games since the beginning of 2025.
Ndoye has scored in three of his last four appearances for Nati, and at 12/5, he's good value to make it four from five on Saturday.
