NAP of the Day: Margot to rob Egan and Co of victory in Nottingham

No joy on Tuesday, despite the market agreeing with me that According To Mark would have Alma Latina's number. As it goes, it was the other way round - and convincing, too.
Here's to NAP of the Day followers faring better on Wednesday, as we go to Nottingham for one at a very backable price.
NAP of the Day - Wednesday 3 June 2026
- 15:48 Nottingham - Lillie Margot @ 5/1

David Egan rides Safe Harbor in a three-year-old fillies' handicap over an extended mile at Nottingham on Wednesday, and it's not hard to see why Marco Botti's daughter of Territories has been introduced at the head of the market.
She's enjoyed a couple of fine runs in handicaps so far this year, in particular at Newmarket last time out in cheekpieces. They stay on and she ought to make another bold bid.
That being said, it's ultimately five runs without a win for Safe Harbor and although you'd expect a race at HQ on a Friday to be more competitive than one at Nottingham in the middle of the week, I'm not convinced that's the case.
It looks a relatively strong field lining up at Colwick Park, involving trainers such as Ed Walker, Charlie Johnston and Hugo Palmer, plus jockeys like Kieran Shoemark, Oisin Murphy and Tom Marquand.
The one I like, LILLIE MARGOT, is trained by Jedd O'Keeffe in North Yorkshire and will be ridden by Jack Garrity.
The daughter of Kameko fetched 40k guineas back in October 2024 and her debut defeat to Legacy Link - John & Thady Gosden's Musidora winner who at time of publishing is second favourite for the Betfred Oaks on Friday - and Lyrics Of Life (rated 90) has aged well.
Unfortunately, she failed to run to that sort of level at Leicester the following month, nor at Beverley on this season's reappearance in April, but it was a return to something like over Wednesday's course and distance exactly 25 days ago.
The selection was second in a seven-runner handicap at Nottingham, beaten just over a length by Eve Johnson Houghton's Valkyrie Storm, who despite her superior rating was in receipt of a couple of pounds due to jockey Harry Vigors' claim.
Although it's simply a speculative suggestion for the time being, I expect the third-placed Empirical, a €260k son of Kingman in the care of Ed Walker, to prove well ahead of his mark of 66, too. It could look a nice piece of form in time.
With a bit more improvement, Lillie Margot must have as good a chance as any in this field of 11.
