NAP of the Day: No surprise if Etonnante wins on debut

There's a superb card at Sandown to enjoy on Thursday, but for NAP of the Day purposes I'm off to the North Yorkshire town of Ripon.
Karl Burke sends a two-year-old filly there to make her debut, and I'm very hopeful it'll be a winning start.

Last Friday, I tipped up a Karl Burke-trained two-year-old filly on debut at Haydock and she was beaten, comfortably in the end, after trading very short in-running.
The idea was right, but the execution was wrong. Let's hope both are spot on this Thursday as I put my faith in ETONNANTE for the Middleham handler in the opener at Ripon - a fillies' novice event over six furlongs.
There's lots to like about her off the bat. She's a daughter of Havana Grey, out of a Kodiac mare who also produced the useful Eponine, a Group 2 runner-up for Philippe Sogorb in France.
Her entry in the G2 Airlie Stud Stakes at the Curragh at the end of June suggests she's showing plenty on the gallops at home. That's how I'm taking it, at least.
Connections are clearly desperate to get a run into her before a possible trip across the Irish Sea, for she's not only entered at Ripon on Thursday but also Chester and Beverley on Saturday plus Newbury on Monday.
Thursday's assignment looks the right starting point, as it's a very winnable affair. If Etonnante has anywhere near as much ability as her profile suggests, she ought to take some stopping.
Tim Easterby's Fern Clyde sets the standard, but a modest one. She was sixth of 11 on debut at Beverley in April, before finishing fourth of eight over course and distance exactly 11 days ago. It won't take much to beat her.
Lady Branksome is a bigger danger. Michael Bell's filly was popular in the betting on debut at Kempton last week, with the champion jockey Oisin Murphy booked, which suggests she's capable of much better than she showed. I'd hardly say she's a potential Group horse in the making, mind you.
The other two with form in the book - namely Bladey Lady and Suzie May - have it all to do.
Fellow newcomer Sovereign Beach is another to watch. Ollie Sangster's highly-capable in this sphere and this 62k guineas breeze-up purchase looks the part on paper. Watch the market.
As I write that, the selection is already seeing support - and plenty of it. Odds-on by the morning? Better get this out now, then...
