Football Bet of the Day: Los Blancos to win amidst an expected sour atmosphere

Real Madrid's defeat at Barcelona on Sunday confirmed the latter as the 2025/26 La Liga champions, with Los Blancos going trophyless for the first time since the 2020/21 campaign.
Alvaro Arbeloa's side play their final home game of the campaign on Thursday as relegated Real Oviedo travel to the Santiago Bernabeu (20:30 BST, Premier Sports 1). It's from this game that I have picked out my Football Bet of the Day, which you can read all about below.
Football Bet of the Day - 14 May 2026

Real Madrid vs Real Oviedo Odds
Madrid are the 2/7 favourites to win this match and make it nine victories from XI on home soil in La Liga.
Oviedo have drawn two of their past four outings in the top flight, with the stalemate here on offer at 5/1.
The visitors are an 8/1 bet to seal just their third away victory of the campaign.
Kylian Mbappe bagged a brace in August's reverse fixture and he is a 7/5 selection to score two or more times on Thursday.
I should probably refrain from mentioning the French striker because he isn't the most popular figure among the Madridistas. They believe he is the root cause of the disharmony that has erupted at the club this season, and there is an online petition floating around to have him leave Madrid. It has received millions of signatures.
The latest reports are suggesting that Jose Mourinho, the current Benfica boss, is set to return to the club he managed between 2010 and 2013, to try and fix the problems inside the dressing room. This does feel like the equivalent of adding fuel to a fire but let's wait and see how it will all unfold.
But before all this, Arbeloa remains in charge of Los Blancos and he will lead the team out for their final home game against Oviedo.
It is expected to be an unpleasant atmosphere at the Bernabeu given the lack of success this campaign has garnered, added with the player problems, with the latest being a bust up between Federico Valverde and Aurelien Tchouameni on the training pitch.
Football Bet of the Day Stats
- Real Madrid have won 8 of their last 10 home games in La Liga
- Both teams have scored in 5 of the past 7 league matches at the Bernabeu, including each of the previous 4
- 2 of Oviedo's 4 most recent outings in the top flight has seen BTTS - Yes land
This is essentially a dead rubber but a point for Madrid will seal them second place. Oviedo already know they will be playing second-tier football next term so motivation may be an issue for them in the capital on Thursday night.
However, they have been able to pick up some results in the past month, so this could wind up being a competitive affair. My pick for Thursday's Bet of the Day is for Real Madrid to win and for both teams to score.
I don't think the hosts can afford anything but a good performance and result on Thursday following this season's disappointment, so the players should be united in wanting to put on a show for the supporters.
The Reyes de Europa have won eight of their previous 10 league outings at the Bernabeu. Both teams have found the net in five of their seven most recent home league games, including each of the last four heading into Thursday.
