Eels vs Storm Prediction: Magic Round to witness a Melbourne masterclass

Having been handed a hiding by the Melbourne Storm back in Round 1 of the NRL season, the Parramatta Eels go in search of vengeance when the pair clash at Magic Round in Brisbane on Saturday (19:45 local, 10:45 BST, Sky Sports Action).
The Storm won 52-4 on opening night but soon hit a seven-game skid before finally getting back to winning ways against Wests last week. My Eels vs Storm predictions follow, along with full team news and Betfred’s match odds.

Melbourne are 4/9 to continue their return to form following their emotionally-charged victory against the Tigers at AAMI Park.
The Eels can be backed for the win at 2/1, while it’s 16/1 for day two of Magic to be extended into golden-point extra-time.
Sua Faalogo is an understandable favourite for the opening try having crossed 12 times in 10 appearances so far this year. He’s 11/2 to cross first.
Team News
Eels go with the same squad that beat the Cowboys last up, with Ronald Volkman retaining his spot despite Jonah Pezet being back in contention after a ban.
Charlie Guymer reverts to the bench after starting at prop in Townsville, with Junior Paulo getting the No.10 shirt from the off.
Craig Bellamy’s health concerns led the narrative before the Storm’s success over the Tigers last weekend, but those big two points should concentrate the minds for Magic.
They have been given the boost of Faalogo being cleared to play after suffering a facial fracture in that 44-16 win, meaning he starts at full-back again.
Their one change sees Hugo Peel miss out with a knee injury, with Moses Leo getting the nod on the wing in his place.
Handicap 3-way Alt 1: Storm -14 @ 6/4
Something clicked in the Storm in Round 10.
Whether it was the outpouring of love for coach Bellamy prior to the game, or something that was just ready to come from within, they blasted Wests out of the water from the off. It was the Storm back to their best.
This week they need to back it up, with that seven-game winless run having left them a long way behind the eight-ball.
And just as they tore through the Eels at almost every turn in the opening game of the season, I can’t help but believe Parramatta will be put to the cleaners once more.
If Melbourne throw even half the shape at the Eels that they did against the Tigers, then this game will be over as a contest fairly early in proceedings.
The fact that their three wins in 2026 so far have come by 26, 28 and 48 points tells you that when the Storm are on, they’re unstoppable.

Harry Grant Anytime Tryscorer @ 7/4
Captain Harry Grant was back in tryscoring form last week, but far beyond that he was a real catalyst through the middle.
Like his prime self, the Melbourne nine capitalised every time the Tigers showed even the slightest weakness around the ruck, helping to keep the roll going through the middle as the Storm kept their foot on their opponents’ throat.
I fancy him to do similar this week, with a good start by the Storm likely to have the Eels scrambling. If that comes about, expect Grant to dictate around the ruck with glee.
The 7/4 about him collecting a fifth try of the season will look increasingly big as the Eels begin to back-pedal.
