Lucky 15 Tips: No engine concerns for Diesel backers

There are six meetings across Britain and Ireland on Wednesday, three afternoon cards followed by three evening fixtures.

There's a mix of Flat and Jump racing, with afternoon action from York, Perth and Yarmouth before the attention switches to the evening cards from Bath, Newton Abbot and Punchestown. Below are my Lucky 15 selections for Wednesday's action.

14:33 Perth - Shadowfax Of Rohan @ 3/1

The 2m handicap chase at Perth is the first port of call and despite being a few pounds out of the weights, SHADOWFAX OF ROHAN has strong claims with Charlie Maggs offsetting 3lb which will prove to be a big help.

The six-year-old was winless in spells with Nigel Twiston-Davies and Micky Hammond, but he has been a revelation since joining Patrick Neville, winning on stable/chase debut at Catterick in February and gaining a second chase win for the yard at Southwell off a mark of 86 in March.

Shadowfax Of Rohan disappointed when sent off favourite back hurdling here at Perth when last seen but should be much better back over larger obstacles.

15:30 York - Big Mojo @ 8/1

Onto the Group 2 Minster Stakes at York next and it's a golden chance for BIG MOJO to start his year off with a bang. Mick Appleby's four-year-old rounded off last season with a midfield finish in the Champions Sprint at Ascot, but he's much better than that.

He goes well fresh, proven by his seasonal reappearance win in an Ascot Group 3 in April last year, and he built on his July Cup second when running out the winner of the Group 1 Sprint Cup at Haydock in September. He will love fast ground and he should take some beating.

16:55 Perth - Dublinofficecallin @ 5/4

DUBLINOFFICECALLIN was well on top hitting the line when gaining somewhat of a surprise victory over course and distance last month and, if in the same mood, he will take some stopping in the 2m4f conditional jockeys' handicap hurdle.

Ewan Whillans' runner has been raised just 5lb for that bloodless victory, but he steps down in grade slightly here which can only be a help and he has similar good ground too. Everything looks set for a big run providing he doesn't bounce turned out fairly quickly.

17:20 Punchestown - Switch From Diesel @ 8/11

If she happens to be odds-against in the 2m mares' maiden hurdle at Punchestown, SWITCH FROM DIESEL could be the value play of the day and should prove to be far too classy for her rivals.

Ross O'Sullivan's mare is a three-time bumper winner who finished second in Punchestown's Champion Bumper last year. She has acquitted herself well in Grade 1 company over hurdles this year and this is a huge drop in class.

If all four selections won, at the quoted prices, a 50p Lucky 15 (total stake £7.50) would return around £221.09.
