Daily racing tips

There’s a good mix of Flat and National Hunt racing on offer across Britain and Ireland on Monday and there are eight meetings to look forward to across the day.  The Curragh kicks us off and their card features the Group 2 Mooresbridge Stakes, which has a pretty illustrious roll of honour. Ireland’s other meeting comes from Down Royal while the British action is hosted by Fakenham, Beverley, Windsor, Bath, Kempton and Warwick.

Amongst our three horse racing tips is a superstar Aidan O’Brien-trained filly who is set to make her seasonal reappearance in the big race of the day.

14:25 Curragh - Causeway @ 6/5

Aidan O’Brien won this race with an unassuming handicap winner back in 2023 and that horse went on to win four consecutive Group 1s. Looking to follow in the exact same footsteps as Paddington is the three-year-old CAUSEWAY.

He could only manage fourth on debut at Gowran in September but the yard’s juveniles almost always improve significantly for their first runs. That proved to be the case here too as he went on to win a 7f maiden here by a comfortable margin on his next start.

This son of Wootton Bassett made his first start of the season in the Madrid Handicap at Naas, which he won by a narrow margin. That’s exactly what Paddington managed to do before winning this race and a similar result is anticipated.

15:35 Curragh - Drop Dead Gorgeous @ 11/10

It can be a bit of a lottery at this stage of the season when it comes to Aidan O’Brien’s three-year-old runners making their first starts of the season, so it’s very promising that DROP DEAD GORGEOUS made a winning debut at Naas in March.

This impeccably-bred three-year-old is by Dubawi and out of You’resothrilling, who is the dam of Gleneagles, Marvellous and Happily. With a pedigree like that, expectations will be high now heading up in grade and it would be no surprise if she manages to deliver.

Ryan Moore didn’t have to push her too hard when winning a maiden at Naas in March and she was very professional on debut. There was plenty to like about the performance and she will undoubtedly progress with experience. Could She be an Irish 1000 Guineas candidate?

16:10 Curragh - Minnie Hauk @ 2/5

It’s hard to knock Aidan O’Brien’s record in this race, as he has won it 14 times in total and six times in the last decade. MINNIE HAUK will bid to follow in the footsteps of Ballydoyle’s world-class mare, Minding, who came out on top back in 2017.

This filly was excellent over 1m4f as a three-year-old and she made a winning start to the season last term, taking the Cheshire Oaks last May. She managed to get the better of stablemate Whirl in the Oaks after that, which was the first of two Classic successes.

Following up in the Irish Oaks at the Curragh, the form probably doesn’t amount to much but she did what she needed to and was particularly impressive in the Yorkshire Oaks. Her narrow defeat in the Arc was a cracking effort and she’s very difficult to oppose.
