Saturday Greyhound Tips: Going Underground at Towcester

1 pt 19:58 Towcester – Strike It Skye (T2) @ SP

All eyes on Towcester this evening with the Star Sports and Orchestrate English Greyhound Derby heats taking centre stage. Day one took place on Friday, May 1, with the likes of Glengar Kane, Swords Style and Slick Sentinel all booking their place in next week's second round. Tonight, in race six at 19:58, look out for the Mark Wallis-trained flying machine STRIKE IT SKYE, who lines up from T2.

The January 2024 daughter of Ballymac Cashout was a beaten favourite in the Category One Coral Brighton Belle last week following a tardy exit from the boxes and early trouble. A line can be put through that run, and it's all eyes on the break this evening with Droopys Trade (T3) and Hackney Corner (T4) in opposition. The key for Strike It Skye backers is avoiding an early bump. It's imperative that Strike It Skye clears Quill Quids (T1) at the boxes, do that and its race on.

1 pt 20:18 Towcester – Goldcash Warrior (T3) @ SP

At 20:18, Monmore raider GOLDCASH WARRIOR will take all the beating from T3. The Nathan Hunt-trained March 2024 son of Grangeview Ten is blessed with blistering early pace and with a ping break this evening he can lead round and kick for home down the back straight and book his place in the second round of the Star Sports and Orchestrate English Greyhound Derby.

Gaytime Joachim (T2) has some smart Irish form and rates as the main danger. Turnthemagicon (T6) was a pup going places in 2025 but has been very lightly raced since. He’s the type to improve with each run in the English Greyhound Derby and could go deep in the competition if he’s over any injury issues that may have kept him off the track in recent months.

1 pt 21:18 Towcester – Underground Gold (T3) @ SP

Next up at Towcester is UNDERGROUND GOLD, who lines up from T3 at 21:18. The Paul Young-trained youngster was an ultra-impressive winner of the Ladbrokes Puppy Derby final at Monmore on Saturday, March 28 when running out a six length winner in 27.79. Since that Category One win the Romford raider has had two course and distance trials around Towcester clocking 29.15 and 28.80.

Those runs would put him bang there in this year's Derby and with further improvement likely he could be one of the main players in the competition outright. Tonight, it's all about beating main rival Romeo Tomcat (T5) into the first bend, do that and Underground can take Gold in this race. Last July Naochra (T4) won the Category One Time Greyhound Nutrition Northern Flat final at Newcastle. The Newcastle-based greyhound starts and stays; he’s a type who could keep qualifying and could be a forecast mixer this evening.
