NAP of the Day: Layla Liz to lead the whole way at Nottingham

Nap of the day generic

There's a trio of meetings to look forward to across Britain on Sunday, including one from Nottingham.

One runner in particular has caught my eye from a NAP of the Day standpoint - an Archie Watson-trained runner who remains lightly-raced in handicap company. The best is surely yet to come.

NAP of the Day - 26 April 2026

Lambourn trainer Archie Watson has been in very good form in the last couple of weeks and he has five winners from just 17 runners at the time of writing. A 29 per cent strike rate isn’t to be sniffed at and there’s lots to like about the chances of LAYLA LIZ.

Hollie Doyle rides the four-year-old here and she remains very lightly raced, having had just four starts so far. Admirably consistent, she has won three times and finished second on two occasions, and that trend is expected to continue on Sunday.

She made her debut in a 6f novice on heavy ground at Leicester in October and she produced a very professional display to win by a neck on that occasion. Very competitive under a penalty at Wolverhampton, after that, she was denied by half a length.

Dropping down in trip proved to be a very sensible move as she absolutely bolted up under a penalty in a novice event on her first attempt over the minimum trip. The daughter of Inns Of Court made her handicap debut after that and was a more than respectable second.

Watson’s filly returned from a 406-day absence again at Wolverhampton last month and she successfully made all the running, despite racing pretty keenly early on. A 3lb rise seems pretty fair and although already on a mark of 90, there could be plenty more to come.

Nad Alshiba Green finished second to her last time out and is entitled to be dangerous once again, especially as she’s 2lb better off. Master Of My Fate was a winner last time out too, although he might find life harder off a 3lb higher mark on this occasion.
